There is a dog on the train watching his stories.
A small dog sitting on a train seat appearing to look at an iPad on the table in front which is showing a tv show.

Kavanaugh really, really wants a time limit on remedies for racial discrimination. I really, really want a time limit on racial discrimination in America. But guess what

Cybersecurity was always political.
You can't escape effects on defense, intelligence, and even the increasingly flooded industry job market by closing your eyes really hard and sticking your fingers in your ears. You can't escape cybersecurity being political by being, "not really into politics".

Boss, we’ve got a problem. Users don’t want this stuff! They keep wanting to turn it off, even when we keep turning it back on!

Boss: I have an idea
They weren’t fired “in error,” they were fired maliciously.
This video needs to be shared far and wide so every American can see and understand the brutality of what is happening. It should be on every TV news segment, every person’s social media feed.
In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.

She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.

This is not about immigration enforcement.

It's about terrorizing Americans.

Not even at a year into this and we're at the anxiously watching to see if an academic can successfully escape from America stage.
“On the verge of…”

C’mon Pete, be real here. That’s just media clickbait and you know it.

How about “It’s not going to happen.” That’s real progress.

This is absolutely wild. I’m on a cross country flight. We are being diverted midway through to Denver. The reason? Some dude is sitting in the exit row who didn’t pay the $155 fee and he refuses to move back to his seat.
The obvious racism sits on the surface. But only an American woman who understands the significance of Roe v Wade can feel the disgusting undercurrent of misogyny.
“It depends on who we're talking about,” he said…”We're going to take care of our people," he added. "There are some people that really don't deserve to be taken care of, and we'll take care of them in a different way."

Same shit, different day.

Two things of note in today's announcement of the 2025 Nobel physics prize (besides the work being honored).

1: The US institutional dominance of the prize continues.
2: 2 of the three laureates are immigrants, drawn here decades ago by the then-unmatched opportunities for science here...

When we hatched a crazy plan asking our TikTok audience to send us their app data, we weren't sure anyone would respond. But 1,100 people, who watched 15 million unique videos, did. Now we've published our first (but not last!) analysis of how TikTok's algorithm pulls people in and keeps them there:
How TikTok keeps its users scrolling for hours a day
Washington Post reporters analyzed data from over 800 TikTok users to learn how the app turns people into power users, some of whom spend hours per day scrolling.

Oh yeah, that is definitely no good.

They're still using Signal and they are still *terrible* at operational security
a White House staffer was just tapping away all kinds of shit talk in the secret secure Signal chat in a place where someone could take *numerous* photographs of his phone screen undetected and walk them over to the Minnesota Star-Tribune
The malfeasance is mind boggling.
Sigh.
Cybersecurity training, beards, and body fat have something in common, according to the Pentagon. They're not helping the US military fight and win wars.
