I shocked a friend by pointing out that the probably-imminent PM of the Netherlands, who is openly gay and supports policies we would consider incredibly progressive is a centrist per my Dutch friend. Our "left" is at best center-right to most of the rest of the world.

One problem is they have very different bone structure, which means as the originator of the TV character, Cavill established the baseline. Also Cavill just baseline has a much better scowly face, which is canonically Geralt's resting expression.
