I have now seen the two Lupin the Third eps written by Mamoru Oshii, and I gotta say, it’s a good thing they shut down his pitch for a Lupin movie: these are among the worst Lupin eps I’ve ever seen.

Yes, for sure. It's not that they *aren't* scared. It's that such a fear is a product of an ideological project. A project that gives cops carte blanche to transmute fear into violence, and which convinces people who should love their neighbors to instead fear them enough to excuse those cops.
