Hot take incoming: we should amend the Constitution to remove the requirement that the president be a "natural-born" US citizen, because that legally establishes two classes of citizenship, even if only for two offices. 1/
I sympathize tremendously with the position that Senator Markey and his colleagues are in, but the problem is that firing is nowhere near an adequate punishment for the very real murders we just saw this man commit. Holding the regime to account is necessary, *and* it will tear this country apart.
Pete Hegseth is a war criminal and should be fired immediately.

The real vulnerability of this administration is that they literally cannot imagine that the average person isn't as cruel, craven and proudly ignorant as they are, and so when they overstep they do so right into the gutter.

"Approved by the best military and civilian lawyers" is a pretty hilarious defense after you've openly purged both the JAG corps and the DOJ of every decent attorney they had.
This is a lot of words to say, “Yikes! That Washington Post story about us illegally killing survivors on the open seas was 100% correct!”

Nehls not so tough after all...
Congressman Troy Nehls (R-TX) isn’t going to seek reelection next year.

A beautiful opportunity here for everyone who has ever delivered a hectoring, stentorian lecture on the non-negotiable obligation to support nations that are illegally attacked by belligerent rogue states. March right out there now and do it all just the same as last time.

@captmarkkelly.bsky.social @slotkin.senate.gov you need to move your objections from the theoretical to the concrete. These are illegal orders. It's time to say that unambiguously.

The public doesn't give a shit about immigrant numbers. The public DOES care about what they perceive as the security risk of people coming across an open border without "going through customs" as it were. 1/
we have to get out of this framing that the hard right has a point about immigration numbers, but they're saying it in a mean & racist way

even if they weren't racist at all (& they very much are), what they are calling for is still national suicide

This is what all democrats can learn from Mamdani - tell the story. The public actually does want to know what government is doing, and outreach is a vital part of democracy.
Exactly. So what did we get for all our pointy headed superiority? Nothing. Even worse than nothing. Technocratic liberals are just so fucking dumb at times.

The law is that Stephen Miller wants to reach a big round number.
It raises the question of what is the law? Does it exist to protect people from real injustice? Or to be used as a weapon against otherwise law abiding people when they commit minor infractions of Byzantine regulations?

"A death-haunted Trump is fed a steady stream of AI-generated news and polls while he focuses 100% of his efforts on building a ballroom that would dwarf the rest of the White House while navigating a series of accellerating and hidden health crises" is my take on the current situation.

I've been seeing a lot of really ignorant takes about the cost to the average person of SNAP, so let's just clear things up.

The cost to the average American is not $632 a year. It's just not.

Imagine looking at the last hundred years of human history and imagining that who wins US national elections has the slightest fucking thing to do with "improv[ing] the material conditions of the working class."
Every 2-4 years liberals will do anything but improve the material conditions of the working class and then be surprised they can only win during times of desperation.

My question going into it was whether Trump was going to be aggro Trump (as with Zelenskiy) or charming host Trump (as with Macron). I was unprepared for him to be fanboy Trump (as with Putin, Kim and MBS) and I suspect everyone else was too. But that was his vibe
5. finally, i think trump just likes being unpredictable

sometimes he yells, sometimes he belittles or humiliates, others he's warm & jovial

it's classic bully behaviour, nothing more or less

Turns out he really did "flow through" her. Good job everyone.
well, I read it, and the salient, non-gross part is Lizza alleging, midsentence and without elaboration, that Nuzzi ran numerous “catch-and-kill operations” on RFK’s behalf, which would give her a role in both his appointment and the untold preventable deaths he has abetted in office. Cool.
