The best known solution to fascism was chambered in .30-06. Added bonus: said solution is also reasonably effective against communism.

Striking a boat full of unarmed civilians is murder. The first strike was murder. The followup strike was also murder.

We're not at war. It's not a "war crime". Everyone involved, including the POTUS, SecDef, the Admiral who relayed it and the person who pressed the button needs to be on trial.

You know how this became utterly predictable and inevitable? When absolutely none of the people responsible for the previous thousand family separations were punished in any way

This is morally and technically correct. We are not at war with Venezuela. Rogue strikes on civilians of non enemy nations isn't anything but murder. It only becomes a war crime to do that second run when there's a war on. But it's not on Fifth Avenue so.
Even if the boat itself was made of drugs, this was still murder.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

Even if you assume they're drug runners and even if you think that warrants a death penalty, letting the government simply execute them without trial is a huge problem

I'm not fighting the hypothetical. I'm telling you why "it's good for the government to be blowing up drug dealers in the Caribbean" is an idiot's argument; that is NOT authority any government should have.

We are not at war with Venezuela, yet. The boats are civilian craft. The U.S. criminal code does not maintain a death penalty for drug smuggling. Due process is required before conviction or sentence.

All of the 80 people killed thus far are wanton murders slain under illegal orders. All of them.

The right's anti-empathy shtick has predictably slid into straight psychopathy. At worst these are low-level cocaine smugglers. More likely they're locals trying to make some extra income. Some are likely innocent.

Meanwhile, Trump just pardoned a high-level distributor. And an ex-dealer leads HHS.
Megyn Kelly's not only getting more brazen with her xenophobia, far-right conspiracy theories and coziness with antisemites and racists — she's an unapologetic, bloodthirsty cheerleader for war crimes.

Thing is, we DID hear about it at his confirmation hearing.

Every single senator who voted to confirm Hegseth knew he held these views about the laws of war.

They voted to confirm him anyway.
Everyone should read this terrifying thread about Hegseth’s published views wrt war crimes. It’s pretty fucking radical …. We needed to hear about this in his confirmation hearing.
A chapter in Hegseth’s book is literally titled “More Lethality, Less Lawyers.”

It’s almost as if there were signs!

Too bad Hakeem Jeffries declared an impeachment push for Hegseth of the table.

Too bad Democrats in Congress are useless.
Dems should hound Rs relentlessly: Will they exercise oversight on these extrajudicial killings in a serious way? Trump and Hegseth are laughing in Congress' faces. Will Rs really debase themselves to shield the likes of *Pete Hegseth* from scrutiny? Seriously? 4/4

The official policy of the Trump Administration is ignorant bigotry. We’re asked, under principles including charity, to assume that people support the administration despite that policy, not specifically because of it. I am increasingly unwilling to extend that charity.

The American Executive took the power it has, because the Legislature unbecame it. And the Judicial allowed it.

Everything broke when the Legislature did. They were supposed to be people of power. And they gave it up to be unaccountable nothings.

Mike Johnson is the ultimate realization of this.

The extent to which the American legislature has been completely bypassed in truly doing anything is one of the most important stories.

The American legislature was supposed to be a functional body that did things, and it does nothing. As the American executive does everything.

For decades.

All the same, I've been following Greg for years and agree with at least 90% of his policy positions. And I've never considered myself conservative, Republican, right-wing, or anything of the sort. So if there's not a place for you, it's their loss.
