Wow, this looks AMAZING! It's a debut crime fiction series from an exciting new talent in mystery writing! I am going to pre-order it IMMEDIATELY. I highly recommend you do the same.

The end logic of this if you’re in the UK btw is DEFEND THE BBC.

Complain about it, protest bad coverage of course, but we won’t get another institution that makes safe, publicly funded, reliable, human-created, vetted content for kids if we let the BBC get destroyed.
We've reluctantly removed access to YouTube kids. It's now no longer just the odd thing

I think I’ve just experienced my first Mandela Effect
I still get annoyed to an irrational extent when people wrongly call it “Roobarb and Custard”
'When Roobarb Made a Spike', the first episode of Roobarb, was originally broadcast on this day in 1974. Thirty episodes were made - all were written by Grange Calveley, directed by Bob Godfrey and narrated by Richard Briers.

You might be cool, but you'll never be as cool as Johnny Cash taking a break during his 1968 Folsom Prison concert.

He’s The Man In Black. How can he possibly be “uncool”?
Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, country-music legend Johnny Cash can seem deeply uncool. It took time for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength, writes Jon Fasman.

People (not) eating food in tv shows should be banned.

Finally catching up with last 2 seasons of The Bear. Loved the Tina episode, but when she’s crying in The Beef, all I could think about was her uneaten sandwich.

Eat the sandwich it’s getting cold!

Never mind that what about the sandwich?

This reminds me of an early (ie 20yrs ago) fake mag cover I saw online that was a women’s version of Nuts. The cover line was “ooh look at his lovely arms”

It’s okay for life events to change you. Good and bad.

After cancer, concepts such as “bouncing back” after childbirth seemed even more ridiculous to me. Of course major events like that will change your body. As will living and the passage of time.

Personally I think the left will have a better future if it avoids inventing hate figures like "Janice" and engages with voters as complex, multi-layered individuals who never, ever fit stereotypes.
And why are we doing all this?

Because Janice - a 75 year-old affluent pensioner from the home counties - has had her brain rotted by the Daily Mail for 4 decades & feels viscerally angry when she sees a global foods store
You have a right to a family life, which includes being able to settle a foreign spouse or children, not have them live in limbo for a decade

It’s seven months since i started London Centric and this is a real highlight. getting nominated for the Paul Foot is entirely thanks to the support of subscribers who have given me the freedom to do investigative journalism. Thanks to them for this. And all the people with broken legs.
From broken legs caused by falling Lime bikes to lead poisoning lurking in our homes and soil, the Paul Foot Award longlist shows the strength and range of journalism in 2025.

I always think that one day I'll catch up with Adrian's backlist but then he goes and writes another book.

(Not that I'm complaining, it's more a reminder that I don't read as much as I used to and that is a sadness).
First draft of surprise novella is done! Very awkward start, but very satisfying close. Now for an editing pass, after which I have a couple of short story commissions to look at.
