Underrated tweet. Macca didn't know that in Minnesota, MEA Weekend is a more powerful force even than Lingering Beatlemania

My theory is that the disposable income is going to be on MEA

I used to do theater in Chicago a long time ago-which is not the important part of the story. What I'm trying to say is that my old friends who live there are going through it with the ICE inundation. Watching their IG and FB posts like they are in a war zone or something.

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Today was the final day of the Midtown Greenway being open with the old Nicollet Ave Bridge in place. The path is going to be removed and replaced with a new one at 1st Ave next year after the new Nicollet Ave bridge is almost complete. Demolition starts tomorrow.
Nicollet Ave greenway access ramp with a Road Closed sign and fencing, and a spray pained "remove ramp" marked on the ground. Looking East, the Nicollet Ave Bridge spans over the Midtown Greenway. The access ramp towers to the left.

Alcohol is one of those things that seems like it's helping at the time but then later you realize is just making everything worse.

I haven't seen yogurt in the bulk section of any co-op.
sheilaregan.bsky.social
I've tried that but it doesn't taste the same.

Someone should open a local yorgurtary-- a place where you can get your empty jar filled up with yogurt (or else purchase yogurt in a biodegradable carton).

There are certain things that are a regular part of what I eat that you can only get with plastic containers, which is annoying. Yogurt is one of them. If there's a brand that used cardboard I'd like to know about it. I've tried to make it on my own and it doesn't taste the same.

I'm trying to think about what to do about microplastics. For years I've washed out yogurt containers and used them for food storage. That seems like a terrible idea now, because the flimsier plastic has to be washed in hot water. Anyone know non-plastic re-useable container tips?

Twin Citians love their outdoor festivals but it takes staff and resources to run them smoothly year after year. It's a huge time and money suck for a very short payoff once a year.

A challenging and fascinating report by Chandler Fritz on Arizona’s universal Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program, which gives families roughly $7500/year in direct funds for educational resources, namely private (typically Christian) schooling. Lots to chew on. harpers.org/archive/2025...

Outdoor cafes are great but we also have a different number of and different severity of winter months than Madrid. We have 5 months, maybe six with climate change, where it's possible to sit outdoors.

Every pope in my lifetime has criticized aspects of capitalism. JPII and Benedict spoke of the harms of unregulated capitalism. Seems like a pretty natural progression for Francis and Leo to look at all the suffering, climate disaster etc. produced by that capitalism & criticize it in stronger terms

That's a wild sentence.

"About 30 people were attending “Tipsy Tuesday” at the time, said the woman, who declined to share her name but goes by Gemini Tik Tok Queen on Facebook."
One dead, three hurt in downtown Minneapolis bar shooting
A woman hit by a bullet said a fight between two men broke out before shots were fired inside Bar Zia Grill.

How often do you forget your own phone number? For me it's more often than I'm comfortable with!

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Junauda Petrus should be on there too.
