One thing I can't emphasize enough: experiencing a feeling, even negative or ugly ones that you wish you didn't feel, doesn't define you as a person. Feelings and emotions are inherently neutral; it's what you do with them and about them that makes all the difference.

From 2005 to 2012, one CBP officer or agent was arrested for corruption, crimes, or misconduct EVERY SINGLE DAY. By 2019, it had slowed to just one every 35 hours. Still a huge problem:
“A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent allegedly used his gun and badge to force his way into hotel rooms and rob and sexually assault at least four prostitutes in Chicago’s suburbs in 2022, according to federal charges made public Tuesday.”

This is the sort of shit you get when a tech guy takes over a media business. The solution to everything is a computer or a program.

Yeah, well, maybe they can get some AI to listen to this because I don't think people will.
The Washington Post is launching a personalized AI podcast, saying users will be able to "shape their own briefing, select their topics, set their lengths, pick their hosts and soon even ask questions using our Ask The Post AI technology."

Other objections aside, this sees like a particularly foolish endeavor in a medium that (and this is hard for a scripted fiction guy like me to acknowledge) is almost entirely driven by parasocial fascination with idiosyncratic hosts.

If we get through this, we’re gonna owe a lot of it to the mysterious alchemy of the grand jury process.
JUST IN: Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Snell just confirmed, at the prodding of U.S. Magistrate Judge Keri Holleb Hotaling, that this motion for dismissal followed a "no bill" from a grand jury.

That means the grand jury refused to indict.
U.S. prosecutors in Chicago are dropping another case tied to Operation Midway Blitz, "without prejudice."

It's USA v. Nathan Griffin. Below is the motion, followed by excerpts from the complaint.

The feds don't say why they're dropping it, but they had until today to secure an indictment.

14/ Today, Phoebe has a 2-star rating, placing it in the bottom 30% of all CMS-rated hospitals in the U.S.

Sick in a Hospital Town, Part 3: Poor Grades, Poor Outcomes
Phoebe paid an exorbitant sum to acquire its crosstown rival and became Albany’s only hospital. But as the company’s debt increased, patients suffered.
