“MAGA/MAHA does not like autistic people. So it has now blamed mothers for bearing autistic children and offered the possibility they can cure these defective people. This is wrong on the science. Wrong on the reality. And wrong on the humanity.”

Autism, MAHA, and the Face of God
One part junk science, two parts incompetent government, and with a dash of blasphemy, for seasoning.

Man alive. I have studied Right Wing authoritarianism for years and have watched some truly fucked up shit and today’s memorial service is maybe the most concentrated example of how messed up and disturbing that sector truly is.

I do think MAGA managed to make the Kirk assassination their 9/11

Not in the sense they wanted, but in the sense that they took their brief window of public sympathy and strip-mined it so totally that everyone hates them even more, now

I have been trying to radicalize progressive Christians, but it feels more important now.

Do you see how Democrats are failing us, too?
Do you see how we are being censored?
Do you see how complaining about the right hasn't stopped them?
Do you see how tech and capitalism failed to help?

A word to my progressive Christian friends (especially pastors):

This hasn't happened yet but it's 100% where they want to go. So I am begging you to decide now what you will do if supporting trans people becomes legally grey.

Think through these questions...

Republicans Push FBI To Designate Trans Advocacy As Violent Extremism. Inside The Project 2025 Organization's Proposal.
On Thursday evening, news emerged that individuals within and outside of Trump administration were pushing to cast trans activists as domestic terrorists. Then, Project 2025 dropped its proposal.

And here's Nancy Mace calling for the same thing while using slurs in front of the media. These people are unhinged nazis.

Rep. Nancy Mace continues to use a transgender slur — isn’t that considered hate speech?

Hey @ezraklein.bsky.social, how are we supposed to live with an entire political party calling to forcefully mass institutionalize an entire group of people?

Your rhetoric only makes sense if you concede that entire groups of people are expendable because you don't want to make any sacrifices.
Rep. Ronny Jackson calls to forcefully mass institutionalize trans people and calls them a cancer.

We are at an inflection point where democracies carcass is being repurposed into a weapon of mass terror against eh perceived enemies of fascist power structure.

There is no turning back from this and from here on out anyone and everyone will be seen as an enemy of the state.

Fascism is here.

I regret to inform you that if you haven't already it is absolutely time to make common cause with Will Stancil.
They are trying to make it illegal to be liberal in America, because they hate free speech, hate the Constitution, and are a bunch of authoritarian scumbags

They really are living in 1999.
Trump and his people have basically announced that they intend to make it illegal to disagree with them. This is the Democrat leadership response:
Schumer on government funding: "Our position remains this: We want to keep the government open by engaging in bipartisan negotiation where we can address some of the grave harms Donald Trump has caused to our health care system and help Americans with the cost of living."

Man, it would be great to have an opposition party in DC right now.
As @shannonrwatts.bsky.social pointed out, where's the Democrats Leadership's response to JD Vance and the Trump Administration essentially declaring war on the majority of America?

Debunking all his lies? Calling out right-wing terror?

Anything? Anything at all?

You're watching the death of democracy in real time. Fascism isn't coming, it is here. If you survive it, you will be forever asked by future generations what you did in these moments. Were you speaking out against it or quietly hoping it will just go away on its own.

Vaccines not only save lives, they save money.

Paying a hospital bill for what should have been an avoidable illness could bankrupt families and cost the government billions.

Vaccines work and are a cost-effective investment.

We are at the point in the honoring-Charlie-Kirk's-memory cycle when faculty are being fired for posting, without comment, Charlie Kirk's words. At the behest of politicians sworn to uphold the first amendment, and in public institutions covered by first amendment protections.

The last 48 hours have shown why people have stopped relying on legacy journalism and have migrated to independent journalists in droves.

The benefit of legacy journalism is supposed to be “editors” and “factchecking” and they can’t even get that right in a rush to blame trans people.
