Hey new people. I’m Steph. I’ve been a game dev for 30 years. I sold my first short story when I was 13. You probably haven’t heard of me.

I sometimes post photos of cats and food and kids. I also love weird disasters and…MURDER.
It’s late.
Everyone is asleep.
Sneak a cookie.

Also thinking about The Leftovers, a show that (spoilers for an 11 year old HBO drama) didn’t bother explaining its central mystery in the end, or even giving things too tidy of an ending, and I wonder if that’s a lesson Lindelof learned from writing LOST.

I’m really enjoying the art style of Castlevania: Nocturne.

Prompting my writing with AI to "get things going". I...it's...it's just not how this works. It never has.

Like, I have to write through the swamp of despair to get to...the damp plains of slightly less despair.
I don't think Larian's CEO understands how art is made:

my kid, like, rewatches Kipo about once every couple months and I'm not sure how I'm going to explain to her one of her faves is gone forever
‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’ is scheduled to leave Netflix on February 21, 2026.

It's the time of year when I come by to shake my shackles and remind ya'all that Pirateship is still one of the best sites for getting low shipping rates, and that the USPS will come by your house to pick up packages.

If you've got a printer and a way to weigh/size boxes, you're good!

I think I have the last available Nex in the Puget Sound Area waiting for me at pickup in a Target west of Tacoma and honestly, I’m a little scared.

The number of times I have scrubbed the Internet making sure I'm fact-checking certain posts where I know I'm not an expert -- the number of times I have spent countless hours getting details right for ONE comment -- and this rich guy with a megaphone just goes and writes a whole thread of wrong.
For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Something else you should know about Boba is that for the first two years I called her “Boobs” but then we started having neighborhood kids show up in our house and I had to very quickly adopt a new nickname for her.

A thing I have learned about Boba is she can sense when I am lying down with a migraine and she takes this opportunity to install herself on me.

I scoured flood plain maps and FEMA projections when we settled on the new house, but I’m gonna be honest: I was thinking 10-20 years after we closed, not a little over one year.
Skagit County has issued a GO NOW evacuation order for all residents in the 100-year flood plain. Find out if your home is affected: www.skagitcounty.net/Maps/iMap/?m...

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you update your Google search url in your browser settings to include &udm=14 it'll stop giving you AI results when you type a search into your browser's address bar.

(Put it after the query token and before any other & items.)

We anticipate potentially 100,000 Washingtonians facing evacuation orders. The situation is fluid and changing all the time. We expect rivers to hit historic levels as early as 4 a.m. tomorrow, lasting into Friday morning.

I don't know why I love soup so much. I don't know when I got soup-pilled. But I can literally eat it anytime, anywhere. I eat it for breakfast sometimes. It's not like I was raised by a wild pack of Soup Plantation employees or something, I just have a whole SOUP THING.
