There’s a thread going around about the horrors of teaching first-year English right now, and I fully believe that it’s true in many cases… but if you saw that thread and you’re sad, I just want to say… my students have never been smarter, more engaged, more passionate. Gonna start a YouTube channel where I pratice piano every day for 365 days except the gag is I just learn chopsticks on day one and then play it every day for the rest of the year.

As a Celtics fan, I haaaate the Miami Heat ... and I still have Spoelstra as the best active coach and one of the ten or so best of all time. Dude has readapted his system to best fit his roster like fifteen different times since getting the job. #NBA

In high school, thirty years ago, my friend @gbx.bsky.social (who is and will always be a better musician than I am) was working on a new track, and I complimented part of it, and he went "Oh, thanks, I modeled that after the way you play guitar"

Just finished braising a lamb shank for four hours in a tomato, onion, and garlic sauce with fresh thyme and rosemary, bay leaf, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Goddamn! Gonna serve it over sauteed mushrooms w/ bread.

There's Black Friday sale all over France and I find this amusing since they don't have Thanksgiving and surely the average French person has no idea wtf Black Friday even is.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
