The thing that's interesting to me is I feel like a lot of artists have focused entirely on "how to do the jawline" ... but the neck/jaw rendering on the original drawing is actually pretty good! It's the part where they didn't correctly skew the face plane that makes it look so weird.

My prefecture can't even manage to renew my visa (six months and counting) so I have my doubts, but thanks. We'll definitely give it a shot. I intend to get to B2 and beyond anyway so not that big of a deal if I have to retake it, but I'd love to not have to do it.
