Jacqui: “We had journalists fishing for our bank details - our kids were followed by News of the World to school. The people you’re investigating are private investigators. They invade people’s lives and I’m not doing it again”

Hopefully - but also an opportunity to repurpose wasted hatching in the middle and widen at bus stops / pavement more generally.

Ideally needs a bus gate to improve reliability Leith St - Cameron Toll. It’ll be needed anyway for tram (eventually).

This council behaving like it’s 1965. True to form. Too scared to face up to the damage drivers do to our city.

Failing to observe alternative paths that London and Paris have demonstrated.

The most fun, laziest and fastest way to get into town. I present to you… the e-bike. 😜

6.2km in 16min average speed about 22km/hr

Or about 50min on a bus end to end. Or 30+mins in a car including finding parking.
Ride into town on a Strava map. 6.2km in 16mins

We are riding LEJOG to remember @timcyclesthecoast.bsky.social who tragically took his life earlier this year. We wanted to do a ride he would have loved in a way he would have done himself: plenty of stops, lots of food, & good beer.

In January 2025, our friend Tim McKenna lost his battle with his mental health and took his life. He was a wonderful man, friend and father, and was an inspiration to many, through his cycling adventu...

On the centenary of Thatcher's birth, there have been predictable calls for a memorial to her memory. But Britain's 2300 food banks serve that purpose already.

Let this be the inspiration for cities everywhere.
Photo of a school street in Paris (Rue de l'Arbelete), Christophe Belin / Ville de Paris. A woman can be seen pushing a child's scooter along a street outside a school building in central Paris, newly lined with trees, greenery and abundant street space for children to play and move safely, which has been reclaimed from vehicles. My local shoppers. 😬

Psychotruck not enough, need to add bull bars.

Peak Murica. Picture alone tells a lot of story. Turns out the chap is an IT worker who needs a 2000+kg psychotruck to transport a laptop. 😬

They could have…
Restricted vehicle types
Put in place 20mph speed limit
Installed speed bumps

Nah none of the above needed.
sbarlster.bsky.social
And as predicted and judging by the reporters photo. They’ve only gone and opened the road with no changes! 😬

The exact same system that resulted in 4 victims in hospital, including baby and toddlers.

Because remember traffic flow is THE priority.
Road opened where 4 victims were put into hospital. No changes needed.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

In any other field of human activity. Actions like this would be deemed psychopathic. Walking down the street swinging a chainsaw on a a rope would likely pose similar risks.

But drivers are given a free pass.
sbarlster.bsky.social
The term psychopath feels appropriate.

Further updates from #bbcnews but still no mention of that mysterious driver. 😬🤨

Genuinely too scared to mention that there was a driver involved. The same driver who chose to driver fast, to drive an oversized over dangerous vehicle, to tow a large trailer. All along a residential street.
sbarlster.bsky.social
described it as a "tragic accident", NOT. Our children are killed by drivers and they will continue to be because they are expected to make sacrifices for drivers freedoms to travel fast.

“hopefully things will be done to reduce the risk on this busy street” you’ll be lucky. Drivers come first. 😕

"I had nightmares last night - I have been up since half past five this morning, I just don't want to go back to sleep," he said.
"It is by far the most distressing and horrific thing I have ever seen in my life."

This is what happens when your council are too scared to limit drivers freedoms.
sbarlster.bsky.social
Once again our young, including babies are asked to make sacrifices. 😢

And if you read the article it’s as it there were no drivers involved. Everything is described, the weapon, the vehicles, the environment, the victims.

But mysteriously no driver mentioned.
