Worried that Motability is paying for people who don't need them to have luxury cars?

These swindlers insist on a helicopter, motorcycle outriders, and a fleet of armoured high-end motors.

'Britain's real benefit problem is the Royal Family'
One family gets more housing benefit, free cars, and state help than any other, says Fleet Street Fox. If they don't want to be deported they need to clean up their act

A reminder of how the BBC covered Boris Johnson's long record of lying, as being a "complicated relationship with the truth".

Bit baffled by this item

The idea that a politician might not give the whole story to a journalist is hardly novel

And I'm trying to recall that moment when Chris Mason wrote a piece where he tried to highlight that moment when Boris Johnson said something misleading

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Chris Mason: Why, in my judgement, Reeves was misleading on one specific point
The Chancellor chose not to share some information on tax receipts in an unusual press conference, given before the Budget.

I must have missed the wall-to-wall coverage of demands for an investigation into Nigel Farage's lies about being a racist

Or about whether he knew Nathan Gill

Or about who bought his house in Frinton

I'd love this for frog and toad seasons; if only they could get organised all to cross the road at the same time.

Jonathan Gullis defects to Reform saying his former party has "lost touch with the people it was meant to serve".

He should know. When he was in Government he took a five-figure donation from JCB, then stayed silent when it axed hundreds of his constituents' jobs just two weeks later
Conservatives Promote JCB's 'Revolutionary' Pothole Machine While Taking Millions of Pounds in Donations from the Company
Senior Conservatives have repeatedly promoted a pothole repair machine made by a company which has donated huge sums to the party and its MPs

BBC describing Zarah Sultana as "Far-Left."

But the BBC do not use the term "Far-Right" for Nigel Farage.

Subtle and clever form of manipulation.

Getting a pay rise that takes you into a new tax band will not leave most folk worse off! You pay the higher rate on the amount above the higher rate threshold not the whole salary.

Why are so many commentators not spelling that out thereby playing into right wing agenda! 😬

It's a pity we can't harness the energy created by so much confected outrage. I'm no fan of Reeves but our overwhelmingly right wing press is descending even deeper than normal into the political mud without actually shedding light on the budget detail.

Not much budget reporting reflects devolution. Very frustrating if you're trying to understand impacts of budget in Scotland, Wales or N Ireland on budget day or even the day after!
Something that's been under-reported:

Property tax is devolved. As of right now, there's no mansion tax happening in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland.

Probably there will be, with each creating their own tax, potentially with different bands and rates...

Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.
Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis
The ban is set to come in February and any exemptions will have to be signed off by the Home Office.
