It is good to see cross-party challenge to overt racism in British political and media discourse: Labour MP Sarah Owen, who chairs the women & equalities select committee, challenges the racist claim from GB News contributor Lucy White that Deputy Speaker Nus Ghani should be barred from parliament
I know who Nus Ghani MP is - not because we always agree - but because she’s been serving her constituency (as well as lewks) since 2015.

Who the hell is Lucy White?!

Ah, a quick google search reveals her as a rentagob for GB ‘news.’

I know which one is qualified to chair the budget debate.

Horrible. SCMP masthead has been greyed out - such tragic news.

Some more good things from the budget:

- online gambling tax
- £millions for kids’ playparks
- funding for SMEs to provide apprenticeships
- infected blood scandal payments exempt from inheritance tax
- lowest business rates since 1991 for 750,000 retail, hospitality & leisure businesses.

450,000 children out of poverty.

That's the difference made by a Labour government.

Utterly classless from Kemi.

Desperate, personal, gutter attacks - not economics.

The few remaining sensible tories behind her, look mortified.

What an embarrassment to parliament she is.

Conservative MPs should be red faced with embarrassment not indignation.

This chancellor is the one who is clearing up their mess.

They’d do well to listen to her not shout like a bunch of guffawing hooligans. #budget

A brilliant Labour announcement!

We know the difference money for decent playgrounds could make. It’s good for children, families and neighbourhoods.

From Stopsley to Lewsey and all the parks in between, there are playgrounds across Luton that need this funding.

Good to see this ex Reform official behind bars.

I hope future interviews with grifter Nigel Farage question Reform’s connections with Russia.

Breaking news but also sadly unsurprising.

Boris Johnson’s mind was never on the job. It cost lives and the country untold amounts.

Not to mention the PPE contracts for Tory donors/mates that resulted in faulty or missing PPE for frontline workers.

We are all still paying the price for this.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance - a day to remember members of the trans community who have died or been killed because of who they are.

Trans people in the UK are feeling uncertainty & fear. We must stand up for trans people & their right to live free from prejudice & hate.

The UK isn’t a “soft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.

Cruelty does nothing to secure our borders.

It's good that the Home Secretary has definitively ruled out confiscating jewellery from refugees - but our focus must now be on building a fair asylum system that prioritises safe and legal routes, not more Tory-style ineffective cruelty.

A strong immigration system doesn't need to be a cruel one.

It shouldn't need saying - but refugees & asylum seekers are real people, fleeing war and persecution.

This daughter of an immigrant is proud of our British and Labour values of respect and not turning our backs on people in real need.
