I haven't seen La Bamba in a long, long time, but I used to watch it all the time when VH1 would play it.

I made garlic naan for all 4 of us. Yes, yes, I was one of those who used the time to make some kind of bread I'd never made before.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

Now watching the movie Shirley, in which Elizabeth Moss plays Shirley Jackson. I can't remember if I've heard anything about it, but I saw it was on Kanopy and decided to give it a go. 🌌📖

I like people who can communicate a lot with their eyes.

But then sometimes, I just want to see someone like Nic Cage do his general thing in whatever situation we've cast him in this time. (He has more range than people give him credit for though!)
Serious question.

How do you judge an actor?

What makes a great performance?

Some actors do a lot acting but I’m not sure it’s necessarily good.

There are some famous actors who are just dead behind the eyes.

Oh no, I'm Mom, lolololol
Coming home for the holidays means your mom wants to stream some period drama no one has ever heard of titled some shit like “The Pealing Bells of Melloncollie” and you better believe she’s gonna let you know Olivia Colman is in it

People will say anything on here. “We used to be a proper country,” no we didn’t. That’s not true.

I wouldn't feel like a complete piece of shit about being too disabled to work but not meeting the criteria to be on disability. I'd commission more art, fix up my house, would start a charity for housing surrendered pets.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

With the mention of Italian gardens in this last chapter of The Age of Innocence, I was reminded of Wharton's own gardens in Lenox, MA, about which our tour guide told us had Italian inspiration. #InnocenceReads 🏹

the crimes are obviously worse but there's also the constant indignities of all formal levers of government communication being taken over by people with a schoolyard bully's vocabulary and the pugilistic instinct of a drunk at the second bar that's cut them off that night

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

The life of a French fence must be exhausting, one day it's a load of snails that like 4 restaurants worldwide even want, the next it's the crown jewels of a country that hasn't existed for 400 years, probably tomorrow it's a thousand baguette baskets carefully handmade from Aquitanian reeds
