The adorable hellbeast is convalescing from a bad paw sprain after falling from the roof so when he demands lap time, he gets lap time. He also has mastered telling me when he’d like to be carried around the house.

I Might Have Been Stoned When the Vortex Shimmered and the Myth of Dry Clean Only Unravelled. 20 x 16 inches. 2023.

This was a collage I made for Jen Tough Gallery in Santa Fe using some materials I was obsessed with -- those blue scraps, the hand, the silk scraps.

While I’m over here admitting what I like in a thirst trap, here’s a video I may have seen a time or two or ten.

This is my Tom Holland lip sync video. Every time I encounter this man making a pile of grilled cheese sandwiches I am compelled to watch a time or two for reasons.

It’d be cool if there was some kind of warning system, like the Bsky icon turning orange or something, to indicate that another Lizza post is on the loose.

(There’s not, btw. At least not yet.)

I consider it a peak achievement of humanity that I can send letters around the world from my tiny rural post office and those letters get transferred between at least two different postal systems and we have somehow worked out that process.

i am going to be equally honest, the USPS accounts for less than a single percentage point of federal spending despite being one of the most complex and sophisticated logistical agencies in the world, this is a crank hobby horse

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I signed up for 5 months of project coaching with @hopeamico.com today because being in charge of my own art means I can let it live in my own head forever and if there is one person who will for sure call me on my bullshit, it’s Hope.

What if, and I know this is wild, what if we didn’t play Christmas music in every retail or customer-facing space for six straight weeks?

I guess when I was a messy early 30-something living on coffee and tequila and running in the San Gabriel foothills at night to escape my thoughts I could have been writing a memoir on my phone.

I had a pristine light yellow 79 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham with wire wheels, velour seats, and power everything for 6 or 7 months until it got stolen out of a hotel parking lot in Tempe, AZ in 1993. It was way too fancy for me but drove butter smooth.
QOTD: What car did you own for the shortest period of time? I had this Saab for eight months before it went kaput.

If there is someone out there with a magic wand made of money, instead of another object of conspicuous consumption or ridiculous party for your problematic hangers-on (you know who they are), be my project underwriter and fuel generations of future artists with things like...
Like, I see people doing great things and saying stuff like "we have a ten year plan to move to a larger space--"

Can you imagine having a magic wand made of money and just NOT?

My playlist lately has been seeded by The Bellamy Brothers' Let Your Love Flow and I forgot 1) how many Don Williams songs I know by heart from singing them with my parents as a kiddo and 2) how much I was into The Mavericks for a minute.

In October I gave notice to clients about retiring from copywriting and design. My favorite emails since then have been from one of my replacements competently and efficiently transitioning files and logins.

As of today, it's 100% relinquished and it's a bigger relief than I thought it would be.
