When "reality TV" becomes your reality, fake employees do fake tasks in fake 'teams' and then a guy shows up in full makeup for five minutes claiming to be in charge, and agrees people should be fired.

Congrats, America, you're officially the audience that paid an entrance fee to watch the show.

Today SCOTUS declined to consider the appeal of the judgment handed to Alex Jones, which would have asked them to consider his trials to be "a hoax".

We want to be especially glad they didn't weigh in, since there are others who want to establish 'alternative facts' are truth.

Let's be clear about SCOTUS and Alex Jones:

SCOTUS simply declined to put Jones' appeal on their docket.
They didn't rule on it because they didn't take it up.
Whatever his lawyers put in front of them was considered insufficient and/or uncompelling.
They have not ruled on a case they did not hear.

They didn't overturn it, they refused to review the case.

The basis for their claim was that the trials were 'a hoax'. Imagine that becoming established law: "Courts can't be trusted to let you operate outside their processes".

There were a couple of other kitchen-sink things they threw in, stupidly ensuring it wouldn't be heard.

If it helps, he filed for corporate bankruptcy and then personal bankruptcy. It took a couple of years just to work out what assets belonged under each. It's quite a saga, both infuriating and fun.

It was easier then, because the first three digits defined a geographic area in yout town, and they tended to be somewhat sequential within a larger area. So you could visualize where someone lived, and then you only needed to recall their last four digits.

What was sinister about it was setting it up to rely on insurance companies to manage, just so it addressed the 'government competing with the marketplace' canard.

Premiums wouldn't be rising by double and triple if it was run by a government agency. The lack of profit shuts down the government.

I don't know, reposting an article from May for this critique isn't the point I care about.

I care about the more recent reporting about the people applying to self-deport not getting the funds promised. And now their information is available to ICE.

The article is factually accurate.

The issue is with sentiments like “This was all about some ugliness that we’re not part of”.

Our country didn't even have to have conversations about what national unity means.

Maybe it's time to become part of your national 'ugly' conversation.

I'm all for the pet photos, I enjoy them immensely.

I am starting to draw the line at anthropomorphizing them by giving them their own accounts and offering their english-adjacent commentaries. And costumes - why?

Let pets be pets, I'm not entering into parasocial relationships with them.
