“I grow old ... I grow old ... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.”

I wish they would bring back "Marvin's Room"; I consider Ms. Keaton to have given one of the finest performances in the history of cinema.

Wonderful!

My Dallas-based aunt was in charge of advertising for 7-11
Slurpees and annually hired Mr. Price to star in the Halloween campaign.

He was incredibly nice and, on the side, helped her to be a better cook.

Here's one of her standard non-Vincent Price ads:

I, miraculously, received $50+ dollars for my 13th(?) birthday, and I blew it all on my first annual subscription to The New Yorker. As a slightly older teen, I added weekly Variety to keep up on box office returns. Explains a great deal more than I realized at the time.

Samin Nosrat’s new cookbook is amazing.
Made her spatchcocked chicken tonight, throwing small Yukon gold potatoes underneath it as it roasted. Yum❣️
Highly recommended - the audiobook, too.

If it is born today, October 1st, I hope that they'll consider naming it Julie if it's a girl and Andrew if it's a boy.

MARY TYLER MOORE theme song writer/performer Sonny Curtis (1937-2025) will be remembered for asking “Who can turn the world on with her smile?”.

But his season one lyrics cut deeper, reflecting the hopes and fears of a generation of young women who were asked “How will you make it on your own?”

Have purchased a signed copy from our local bricks and mortar bookstore and am now listening to the audio version; Ms. Nosrat's voice gives an even greater depth to her words.
