Was out at the San Jose Earthquakes training facility for today's press availability. It's now double in size (the new half is in the foreground), though the team is still waiting for the use permit to be issued in order to play on the new part. A small, but necessary, improvement.

BREAKING: Columbus Crew midfielder and MLS legend Darlington Nagbe is retiring after the 2025 MLS season, per sources.

Nagbe, 35, is a four-time MLS Cup winner (2015, 2018, 2020, 2023) with three clubs (Portland, Atlanta, Columbus).

Following their loss at the Vancouver Whitecaps yesterday, the San Jose Earthquakes could be eliminated from MLS Cup Playoffs contention before their season finale if, this Saturday, FC Dallas win or draw at the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake win or draw at the Seattle Sounders.

I never started The Soccer Dispatch to make money.

I started it because I was frustrated at the diminishing number of places to write interesting, non-mainstream stories about football. It was my own little way to respond to the narrowing of the football media landscape.
