HOW COULD I FORGET that "take" is the word that originated this post? "take" can also get in the bin
Words I would like to throw in the trash this week: nuance, aesthetic, journey, content (CONent, not conTENT. I have no problem with conTENT this week)

ChatGPT is as "conscious" as a cootie catcher or a magic 8 ball. We've gotta stop it with this nonsense

We’re not doing “disability accommodations are unnecessary and unfair actually” discourse less than 24 hours after Alice Wong has passed. Absolutely the fuck not, even if it is a perfect example of the kind of shit disabled people have to deal with and why Alice’s activism was and is so necessary.

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

the main lesson I have taken away from kpop demon hunters and hazbin hotel and a bunch of other shit is that I would like more musicals

don't care about the genre - action, horror, comedy, whatever - just give me catchy songs and I'm there

Just saw a commercial for a wealth management company whose tagline was "serving middle class millionaires" and I am reminded that we are living through an age where words have lost all meaning

My annual "I hate copay accumulators" rant is here. Pharmaceutical cos set up programs to help people on very expensive meds afford them, and insurance cos said "sure, you can pay for it, but it can't actually reduce the patient's cost lol. We get extra $$ now." Disability poverty is a policy choice

Go buy books at Loyalty Bookstore! They also have a website (loyaltybookstore.com) or you can support them by selecting their shop when you shop on bookshop.org. DC community is a beautiful thing, & we have to keep our bookstores alive

When these bills are up for a vote, I hope those of you with federal representation call your House and Senate members to oppose them. We District residents don’t have any representatives to lobby.

And we better not see a single Democrat vote for these anti-DC bills. They need to hold the line.

Gerisuits and other age simulations are no better than disability simulations. They don’t have the outcomes they purport, and we could just, you know, listen to older and disabled people about their experiences and believe them?

We need to talk about something very important. There is a myth spreading in both irl and online left and progressive spaces that is doing real, material, lasting harm.

The no bills in federal grand juries are heartening but I don't think we should be jumping straight to "juries are anti-fascist"! Yes, it's great to see an institution that typically rubber stamps prosecutors not doing that, but it isn't happening bc of the nature of grand juries but in spite of it

Wild that Wisconsin released bar exam results today (the first state as far as I know) but some of us still have to wait a whole two months yet

Welp. I was so excited to finally have finished knitting a sweater sleeve in half fisherman's rib. Only to look at the pattern and realize I was supposed to decrease every inch, and didn't decrease at all. Now to agonize: to redo, or to not redo?

For some reason thinking about when I went to Russia in college & my prof took us to Lenin's tomb. The military guarding his body wouldn't let you stop walking to really look at him/the body. For how proud they were that this was the "real Lenin" they sure don't want visitors looking too closely

Knitters please advise! I'm looking for a fingering weight vest pattern for women (b/c I assume bust shaping, or at least consideration that wearer has a bust, is necessary) Hoping to wear under a blazer. My ravelry search has gone nowhere. Cables, v-neck, crew neck, plain stockinette all fine! 🧶

"DC residents...are trusting my judgment" is a wild statement from Bowser. No district resident I've ever met trusts her judgment and they aren't starting now

I hate that there will be people as shocked by this as by the repeated success of every other direct cash assistance pilot
BREAKING: A new experiment in Philly shows cash rental assistance slashed homelessness rates by 57–67%.

Find some way to think about resistance that does not depend upon police. Historically, we don’t have many examples of that happening.
