This is, believe it or not, not a trap. Despite the claw flex. Ellie /adores/ belly rubs, and wouldn't think of putting her claws in someone.
That's not to say she doesn't do it, she just does that without thinking, like when your leg looks like a ladder.

I just absolutely can not with my idiot cat anymore. The screaming for food 24 hours a day even when she had food in two different bowls for her. She's obsessed with the idea of being given more food, at all times, on demand, over and over, no matter how much she's eaten or has in her bowls.
