The PlayStation-version of Konami's Tokimeki Memorial was released 30 years ago today - and one can certainly argue that it was this version, that made the game a real phenomenon. It's a shame Konami still hasn't offered a localized Version of this highly influential classic.

wish I felt more confident in my writing abilities, I'd love to review Ninja Gaiden 4

VRAM was my first thought too, hehe

i've reflowed just about everything on the underside, at least relating to CD-ROM and work RAM. I'm also testing with burned copies of Linda Cube and Rondo (really late PCECD games with some advanced graphics features, including transparencies) and can't see it anywhere on those

it's in pieces right now, believe it's 3.0 though

it does this with my legit copy of Ys (JP), it does it with a burned copy (Taiyo Yuden redump), it does it with a burned copy of Ys US too. It did it on the (faulty) previous laser, and it does it on this new (working great!) laser too. I cannot manifest any issues resembling this on any other games

Very weird behavior on this turbo duo. System is in pretty clean shape (for a turbo…), no visible traces. But these book graphics in the Ys opening have these black squares on them, as if the transparent elements of the sprites are failing

there are songs you can unlock by getting a-ranks in time trials but Sonic R is not included in them

Really astonishing production design. Those matte paintings!

that 3D Mario team is kind of shameless about tucking nods to Games They Like in their work (see: DK Bananza containing like four different Dark Souls references)

something about the opening cutscene of Mario 3D World has always stuck out as me as a bit Too Specific, Mario & Luigi hitting that pipe with hammers (they don't really use hammers much in the big boy 3D games). turns out!

man sonic racing really is remarkable

yeah, I agree with this. I'm not a "sharp pixels" person but I do hate the smeared 360-era look. There is a bit of a smear going on in large blocks of color but it almost gives off a bit of a PC-98 look. Really does strike a good balance

I don't associate SQEX with this level of reverance. I associate them with Dragon Quest remasters that fast-forward the Epic Journey and term that a value-add
