Hey new folks!

I'm Remi. I compose, play banjo and I'm currently putting together a small EP of tracks written for an obscure game project! Been attending and charting for VGM Jazz jams as well

I also play plenty of Magic: the Gathering and am learning Ori BF Randos

All format restrictions are arbitrary, but the Color Identity rule is a central pillar of Commander and what gives it its identity, just as much as having a critter in the command zone.

There probably aren't any hybrid cards that would break anything, but it errodes something foundational.

It's the next stop on "Oh, this is in a deck that can't produce its colors, so why can't I play it?" CID considers all mana symbols on the card, regardless of how you can pay for it.

Bargain as a BUG card has business being in a monoW or monoR or WR deck, even if it could be cast for 6

Sure, and commander has color identity as a deck building restriction for a reason as well. Just because you can cast it without white mana doesn't change that it's both a White and Red card. Why carve out an exception for Hybrid and not Phyrexian? What about Rakshasa's Bargain in MonoW?

But then you have a white card in your non-white deck!

If it's for function, perhaps a changeling?

If it's for flavor, maybe next time we go to Kamigawa or Bloomburrow they'll print one?

It's still a multicolor card, even if you can cast it for either (or no!) color. The symbols are still on the card, isn't that how Color ID works?

I see that now! I tuned in right on the tail end and only saw the Rhys/Beseech/DRS graphic and didn't know they'd already discussed it

The proposal would be that, strictly for the purposes of deck building, you can treat a hybrid symbol as either of its two colors. So, Rhys the Redeemed could go into a white deck, a green deck, or be the commander for a green and white deck. It still looks at the rest of the mana symbols on the card as normal, so a card like Deathrite Shaman would remain ineligible for a mono-black deck because it has a green symbol in the text box.

Even if they change it so that the CID is [either] one or both, do the rest of CID rules apply?

Deathrite is a hilarious example because even if Hybrid is okay-ed, it still has both normal symbols in its box.

Last LARP of the season, plot mentions how they only had 7 rez's last month and wanted to pump those numbers up (as is tradition for October/last game of the year)

My character caused a TPK and sent 9 of us to rez all at once.

And that was the *better* outcome

If you're wanting a single cat, get an older one who is used to being alone.

Younger cats and kittens should always go in pairs because they really, *really* need a playmate.

If there is no second kitten, you *are* the second kitten and yoy best be prepared.
