The number of profiles I see on dating apps that list how many countries they've been to, as if that itself is proof of an accomplishment other than having disposable income, is WAY too high. It's always like "Love to travel. 50 countries & counting, you?"

I love that traveling is more accessible, but I dislike that people travel abroad as a form of consumption rather than as an experience of cultural connection and strengthening international relations and ties on the personal level.

Something I think I *knew* but didn’t really acknowledge until now: text messaging does not build intimacy. Yes, it can be really nice to keep a regular correspondence with someone to initially get to know one another, but there’s a limit to how close you can get with light conversation over texts

Being on stimulant medication subdues ADHD and gives clarity and focus. I’ve also experienced a bit of that with coffee. Or over a more sustained period, by keeping myself busy. Occurs to me that being a workaholic may have been a form of self medicating. On cortisol and adrenaline.
Not healthy.
