Our family doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. There’s a gale when dawn illuminates our world. The morning light arrives as though leached from my son’s eyes, his gaze cast skyward…

Two lovely reviews for Storyteller just showed up! I'll be on the Tanith Lee panel at the World Fantasy Convention later this month. If you haven't picked up a copy yet, you can find it at all the usual places, including tanithleestoryteller.com

“Storyteller: A Tanith Lee Tribute Anthology is a lovely tribute, indeed. From the first tale to the last, a deep love and admiration for Lee’s life and work shines through in each authors’ interpretation of her distinctive style and voice. These sixteen stories capture the spirit of Tanith Lee’s fiction with their elaborate world-building, complicated consequences, and wild magic everywhere.

It is a wonder to see how unique and yet how familiar this anthology feels.”--Nerdgoblin.com “Storyteller: A Tanith Lee Tribute Anthology is a lovely tribute, indeed. The solving of "those thorny problems" is the job.

That's the writing.

The more you outsource it to the plagiarism engine the more you lose your hard-won ability.

When people ask me what I think about using AI in writing I’m going to send them this screenshot
A screenshot of a post that reads David Simon, creator of *The Wire*, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro, NPR

And then a screenshot of a conversation that goes like this:

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.
