She learned that snow had many iterations: the wet accumulation that lopped down in sheets, the dry snow dwindled and winked in twinkles, drifting in shimmering dunes, and the powder seemed sentient, whipping round in violent whorls, revealing the wind to itself.

He was a great work machine and did the work of ten men at all hours and smiled whilst doing it, but the look in Maedlynn’s downcast eye and her diminished smiles told him that he suddenly needed her help with something—that something which very obviously required no assistance whatsoever. #books

Well said.
I have three jobs besides writing books, none of which pay well or on time. I write as fast as I can to get a few books a year out, but this is not normal, nor shout it be. People should be allowed to take their time with their art and be cared for while doing it.

The problem is not that we hate doing the work or want to do it faster. The problem is that authors aren't just idea factories hooked up to a set of typing fingers: those things are part of a larger body that needs to be fed and clothed and sheltered and loved the same as everyone else.
