Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Here is my main opinion on AI, in every capacity: What is the point of technology? Is it to make our lives better and easier, or is it to make a very small percentage of people richer? The latter is what AI is doing. The people actually doing the coding are making themselves redundant.

One of the most intelligent people I’ve ever known recently destroyed their life because a major life event transpired and they consulted ChatGPT on what to do. The situation worsened so they sought its counsel, following its advice over and over again into oblivion.

OpenAI is now openly suggesting people use chatGPT for mental health, to „untangle their thoughts” to help them „think more clearly” or if they need to decide whether to „break up with their boyfriend”.
