"To those that can hear me, I say: do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people."
Powdered Wigs and Screaming
Because someone is on the ball, Turner Classic is playing (among other WWII films) The Great Dictator today. If you haven't seen it, please do. It was produced by Charlie Chaplin in the late 1930s,…

The trend seems to be to focus on Spotify maybe because it’s easy. Would note that they’re also running ads on Youtube—I’ve been seeing them more frequently lately which is extremely disappointing. I want to support the independent creators I watch there but the pro-fascism ads are pushing me away.
Social media feeds are full of people sharing their Spotify Wrapped, but Spotify is full of ICE recruitment ads. Cancel your subscription until Spotify stops helping ICE terrorize our communities. app.sosha.ai/s/T7ngbtyS

holy shit, an accurate legal critique of LLMs. LLMs don't reason because they're just stitching together plausible-looking sentences indifferent to the content

Soon t’will be I who departs from Netflix some coming week.

with no regrets, just like the rest of ‘em.
Netflix, why do you email me about "here's what's leaving Netflix this week"?

Why are you attempting to promote your service that I am paying for each month by giving me a weekly list of the functionality & value that is constantly leaking out of it?

My conspiracy theory about this tech is that every single person (sadly me included for livelihood reasons) using this tech is effectively an unpaid beta tester.

We’re slowly regressing as we turn over our critical thinking, our data, and our money, to these companies.

Monetary protest is the unsung key to having a snowball’s chance in hell of kicking this un-American regime to the curb.

Enabling/supporting techno-fascism needs to be synonymous with a financial death knell for any business/corporation that participates in it.
Withholding support from corporations enabling the Trump regime is a powerful way to fight authoritarianism. Supporting the organizations who do fight back hard and organize others to fight is just as important. If you can, pitch in to power your friendly pro-democracy organizers at Indivisible.

First time doing a reverse sear did NOT disappoint. Inch and a half or so of a nice lil ribeye cut, butter seared after the 25min stint in the oven. First of all STEAK CAN BE TENDER???

Friends, the Michelin star restaurant is at my house.

This might be hyperbole but as an XFiles and Breaking Bad stan I don’t care. Vince Gilligan might be one of the last legit TV storytellers. Consistent, good plotting, great characters, great casting.

In a world of unseasoned McMedia, cook some original dishes like chef Gilligan.

the other thing that gets me angry is that trans folks, POC, people posting about Gaza - we all get our shit taken down for little to no reason all the time. people on bluesky get suspended for posting song lyrics that use violent words. you can't say "kill" in a reel. but pedophilia? 16 strikes.
Instagram’s former head of safety and well-being Vaishnavi Jayakumar testified the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the trafficking of humans for sex.

“You could incur 16 violations and upon the 17th violation, your account would be suspended"
