A wealth tax would be simple and fair – what’s not to like? | Letters

“Inequality of wealth has rapidly become inequality of power. It’s corrosive to our society. Billionaires should not exist – that should be a policy goal”

Here we go again

Billionaires are allowed to get away with all sorts of tax dodges without interference

But the poor and vulnerable on benefits are the ones that get scrutinised

Not in the slightest worried about billionaires leaving the UK because of nin dom tax changes. 1. They don't pay tax anyway. 2. They won't move out of UK because it's such a valuable market. 3. Obviously by these actions show they don't care about the UK or the people living here just themselves

If the richest people in the UK had paid their taxes at the top 47% rate that everyone else has to there would be no debt.

75% of debt is owed to banks, billionaires and their corporations.

You should write it all off as they already stolen it all in tax avoidance.

One way to tackle Redwood’s false argument is to charge those millionaires and billionaires who choose to abandon the UK (rather than invest in it further) an exit tax of no less than 40%.

So it’s 40% or 1% (or 2% for billionaires).

The reality is; they won’t go anyway and if they do, fuck ‘em.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social wants to introduce a wealth tax of 1% on assets of over £10m & 2% on assets over £1bn & if the super rich want to leave the UK because they are being taxed a tiny amount more then we should wave them goodbye

Thatcherite John Redwood says 1% isn't a tiny amount.

Steve Witkoff helped Russia derail Ukraine’s access to Tomahawk missiles. He tipped off the Kremlin about Zelensky’s U.S. visit, giving Moscow time to arrange a call that convinced Trump to block the deal. Witkoff actively works against Ukraine’s defense, in coordination with Putin’s regime.

“.. the Witkoff-Dmitriev plan” demands that a substantial share of $300 billion of frozen Russian state assets “be carved up between Washington and Moscow .. This has apparently disappeared from subsequent versions, but there’s no mistaking the intent.”
