It rarely ices this bad, it’s true. But Nashville pretty frequently loses power in summer, spring, and fall storms, too.

I don’t know why the city doesn’t have more buried power lines, but I’d bet it has something to do with how much the state government hates the cities of Tennessee.
NASHVILLE: “Some could be without power until next week.”

Asked if NES was “prepared” to handle this, mayor O’connell says “It’s very very difficult to be fully prepared for things that are unprecedented”

He says the city hasn’t seen ice like this in decades

One reason you can't just tinker with ICE/CBP is the whole thing is facially illegitimate. The intent is rotten. It's run by a white supremacist maniac and will continue producing white supremacist maniac results

"You can beat the charge but not the ride" is the fundamental premise of so much of what the Trump administration does. And, our system is ill-equipped to stop it.
DHS has a whole citizen detainment system set up in Minnesota. They snatch citizens off the street (often with proof they are citizens), detain them for a few hours, steal their phones, then release them into the cold.

It ain’t about deporting citizens; it’s about terrorizing a whole population.
‘Abolish ICE’ has become an increasingly popular position and people are being shot in the streets over it why the fuck would you dillweeds roll over like this. Especially given that citizenship is much more friable than people think it is this is not as protective as dems want it to look.

An entire community of thousands, here legally, having been demonized with deranged lies about eating pets, is about to be arbitrarily DECLARED illegal so they can be forcibly ethnically cleansed. I don’t want to hear one more fucking word about comparisons to Nazi Germany being overwrought.

One thing you can see clearly in the video before Pretti’s murder is the agents repeated attempts to pepper spray his face at close range. I have seen so much footage of ICE/CBP using “non lethal” violence to punish observers for being there, which is outrageous even when it doesn’t lead to death.
This seems quaint but routine use of “non lethal” weapons against people peacefully exercising their first amendment rights is also a complete outrage and extreme violation of our liberties.

Just donated to this group who meets people as they are released from ICE detention in Minnesota. Folks are simply dumped out the doors in whatever they were wearing when they went in, no phone, no nothing! This group gives them warm clothes, a phone, a ride etc.

Maybe when all those 2A guys were saying “come and take it” that was short for “come and take it from me while six federal agents hold me down on the pavement and pistol whip me, and then shoot me in the face for having carried it in the first place”

All the anti-war and anti-occupation protestors were right. All the far leftists were right. All the “woke scolds” and your friend who’s “too woke” were right. They were somehow even more right than they may have realized at the time. But really, it was always obvious they were right.

Just FWIW, it was never possible for Trump to deport the number of people he campaigned on deporting without the kind of reckless mass action targeting documented and undocumented people alike that ICE is currently engaged it.

I never saw a single story explaining that to people.

An agency that found it acceptable to spray pepper spray in the faces of people who were already cuffed on the ground was always going to escalate to shooting people who they already subdued.

ICE is rotten root and branch, incompatible with a free society, revolting to all free people.

It can be a hard pill to swallow but you have to accept that while you will prevail in this struggle, you may not be there to witness it.

It is genuinely insane to watch capital decide that allowing this shit to go on is better for them than having to allow the FTC to do mild monopoly investigations and require cancellation buttons on websites.

In 2014, I made close friends with someone from Ferguson. I remember talking with her about the sheer surreality of seeing tanks rolling through your home town, with people dressed for war.

12 years later and I’ve lost count of American places I’ve seen cosplay soldiers marching through.

"Oh you too hon! Stay safe in that traffic, fuck ICE!'

Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947 (over Truman's veto) to make general strikes so incredibly difficult to organize that there hasn't been one since.

That there is a general strike happening in a major US city on such short notice is nothing short of a miracle.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
