but I wish it were that simple.
It's not just war around the globe, but current-gen policing in America, and basic "how do we treat each other".

Best way I can put it is how Patrick Skinner (@SkinnerPm) who is a cop but ex-USCG+CIA puts it on Twitter: "All of us matter, or none of us do."

Dear researcher,

I want to thank you for your candor in this matter and hope you will appreciate my returned sense of clarity and conciseness when I reply to your proposal with “lol, no” unless you are ready to do some groundbreaking new work with the FAA.

I love to leave my life of unimaginable luxury at the apex of my profession to travel to the windowless lair of a video game streamer with a room-temp IQ so I can do the most absolute dogshit banter imaginable with him and his lumpy shithead buddies.
I really think it's important for these millionaire athletes, none of whom are children, to feel great shame for being interested in Adin Ross to begin with. Mookie Betts, you are 33 years old. You have a wife and children. You should not know who Adin Ross is.
Yo what the hell is going on with LA athletes right now

Or just keep platforming Republicans who have a 5th grade understanding of biology so they get more trans people killed, sure 🤷🏻‍♂️

There’s a great expression from Argentinian Spanish about someone who’s sticking their oar in that goes vos no te peinés que no salís en esta foto. It means “don’t comb your hair because you don’t appear in this photograph.”

Long COVID varies in symptomatology & intensity ranging from quality of life impacting to multi organ chronic disease to total disablilty.

Every reinfection is a roll of the dice with this being the prize.

Because COVID is a systemic, immune damaging, prothrombotic neurotropic vasculitis.
A new systematic review & meta-analysis of 2M+ people estimates a ~36% pooled prevalence of reported long COVID after infection.

claiming you "don't know anyone" who's had long COVID is statistically implausible - unless you only know like <3-4 people

More Than One-Third of Individuals With COVID-19 Experience Long COVID
Long COVID remains globally prevalent following COVID-19 infection, with a significant burden of symptoms lasting 1 to 2 years postinfection.

I often tell of the time I spent a week in LA debugging the POS system at the Westwood Kinko's because it was one of maybe a dozen stores across the country that were having random database disasters. Kinko's thought our POS software was fucking up; I thought it was a hardware error of some kind.

a fun story about this is one time I brought my MR2 to a track and, for safety inspection, they had me pop the (front) hood -

still can't describe the inspector's expression when he opened it & saw no engine.
A poetic mix of confusion & disbelief, then sudden cognizance that mid-engine cars exist.

If you reserve for 10 people on any night, let alone one in which I’m fully booked, *then* tell my hosts you added 5 more guests who’ll arrive in 5 minutes, don’t come bitching to me when you get seated at 2 tables that aren’t next to each other. Also know we’re judging you harshly.

Three D's defected to vote for this disgusting bill. If they hadn't, it wouldn't have moved forward.

*Don't come into my mentions to "explain" to me that "this will fail in the Senate." Spend that time calling your reps, donating to causes, and doing literally anything for trans folks.
The House passed legislation today that would charge doctors with a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for providing transition-related care to minors.

Rep. Sarah McBride strongly condemned the legislation in rare personal remarks ahead of the vote.

A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

If the US invades Venezuela, as seems...likely?...at this point, the IOC should ban US participation in the upcoming Winter Games, and FIFA should move the World Cup out of the United States, if not ban the US from international competitions.

It's what the world did to Russia, for good reason.
