I mean, I'm not going to argue that, in the current iteration, SPED Is working well.

But I WILL argue that cutting it, wholesale, without a plan for improvement, will be devastating for families and communities across partisan lines. It's just bizarre. And mean.

I was just teaching about the CDC to high schoolers this week in a class for students interested in medicine.

I truly don't even know what to say.

"The CDC exists. It used to be a world-respected agency on infectious disease. Now... well... things are changing. I guess we'll see?"

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

In the 90s my HS chem teacher told a student, IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS, that he'd help her once she, "bent over & assumed the position."

The student told her mom who said, "Oh, Mr. Nelson, he's been doing that for ages."

Something was done, but it had clearly been going on for decades.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

They are not planning "a violent crackdown" on 10.18. What they are doing is sending a signal to their shock troops to try to cause havoc. But those shock troops will be vastly outnumbered. Go out and protest freely. Do not be cowed.
