Karl Marx: "the proletariat will become fit to be the ruling class through the struggle for self-organization"

Populist Leftists: "anything working-class people do is cool and to be defended. Racism, drunk driving, stealing from their neighbours. This is how we make them like socialism!"
Between defending Cinnabon George Wallace for being a noble proletariat, and woke drunk driving defenders, incredible display on this site today of what actually was toxic about leftist spaces and discourse over the last decade

Non-kiwis! Thanks to our right-wing govt crashing the NZ dollar, your money pisses off 1.5-2x as many transphobes as a year ago. Isn't that lovely?

Want to support trans rights in Aotearoa & get a bunch of cool TTRPGs? The Ban the Ban bundle is raising funds for action against the NZ govt's blocker ban.

Proceeds go to PATHA to fund their court challenge & support individuals. Get it now!

It's just enough people gone between Xmas and New Year, or for a week in January, to make things feel inconvenient for the terminally huffy and entitled amongst us (same folks who lost their minds that they couldn't go to their baches in lockdown)

Oh, and this drama about summer holidays is of course stupid, but it's not about people having 12 weeks off (because no one does); it's about so many people taking a week here and a week there that it FEELS to them like everyone's disappeared, and rich people want a plumber instantly #nzpol

I think the lockdowns *did* prove that, but I think the business bros/flag fuckers/car fuckers etc. really hated Ardern because they don't like a lady telling them what to do *especially* if she says woke words.
Pretty sure business bros hate Ardern so very much cause she genuinely threatened the “convince the population they need to slave for subsistence wages with less days off than medieval peasants” work til you die rhetoric. We stopped the economy and look after the people and the economy was fine.

Happy birthday to us! (You need to be nice to us today, it's the rules.)

On this day in 1997, MPR (then called "Manawatū Sounz") did the first broadcast on 999AM in Manawatū.

Here's to everyone who helped us bring local stories to life over the last 28 years!

"Tears in Heaven". Not for any particularly high-minded reason, I just didn't really like it and then I had to sing it at a fellow student's funeral as part of my high school choir (I didn't know her) in a really naff choral arrangement and my hatred became deep and total.

Just started playing Sable (free game from Epic a while back). Not far in but pretty charming so far. Has the approach I like in open world games (make me a named character with a reason to be curious and explore).
