Maybe at the elected member level, like any elected roles. But RCs employ many highly-qualified scientists, land/ emergency management professionals, transport planners, etc - who does this work & where does this workforce go if RCs get axed? You'll miss them when the next flood/disaster strikes

I'm sorry, I know I grew up in a weird place but I can't get my head around the idea that central government can just eliminate regional councils in NZ. I feel very scared by this. Is it as bad as it sounds? Because it sounds fucking bad. #nzpol

It’s wild that the tradition of singing anthems before sports matches started with a Wales v NZ rugby match in 1905, as the Welsh wanted to drown out the haka.

Just in case you're wondering how the NZ cookers are doing, today my colleague told me she has a friend who has been taking Ivermectin daily since Covid and thinks all the flooding is due to cloud seeding so "they" can take land. What they want with unusable flooded land is yet to be established.
