the times is reporting that the protest stretched 22 blocks in chicago
So brave, stepping foot into what the TV people say is a war-torn hellscape!
@govpritzker.illinois.gov

Any accountability here?
After 8 a.m., Illinois State and Broadview Police let protesters into Beach Street according to witnesses. Then a slew of baton-wielding ISP officers entered the street, forced protesters off the street & arrested multiple people. Now folks r on sidewalks

That's not how "kids" talk. That's not how "boys" talk. That's not how "gamers" talk. That is how fucking racists talk.
And how many of that 100,000 are just locked in via dark pattern/too lazy to unsubscribe?

I frankly do not trust any number put out by these companies anymore. Watching 2% counts as a full view, bots inflate user count, etc…

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

whenever i encounter people who say they can't understand shakespeare verses I always send them this clip from the 2019 Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing
“And I’ll break every law in the books to destroy my political opposition!” he seethes.
Oh, it’s obvious from their feed.
No, I shouldn’t have an opinion on the validity of any particular method of care prescribed to a trans person. Because I don’t know anything about it.

I have no opinions on the existence of trans people because deciding you can declare a group of people invalid is bigotry.
You absolutely should not take medical advice from me. Don’t take legal advice from me, either. I’m not a doctor or a lawyer.

If you don’t trust what a doctor says, you get a second opinion from another doctor. You don’t get medical advice from a person whose entire work history is opinion pieces.

She isn’t a doctor, what does her experience-less opinion mean on a child’s medical treatment?

Anyway, I’m not spending any more time on a bad faith discussion. Don’t bother responding.

She’s not liberal.

She is anti-vax, anti-DEI, and vehemently anti-trans(there’s your bigotry example).

These are all solidly conservative talking points.

I could easily see myself voting for someone who runs on abolishing ice and prosecuting every single one of them and the entire administration

Congrats to @jay.bsky.team and the whole Bluesky team for creating a new dogwhistle for transphobes in record time. Excellent work all around.

I open a lemonade stand. One million trans people patronize my lemonade stand. 6 Nazis show up. I make them all Lemonade Kings. I call in the National Guard to turn fire hoses on the trans people. Me and the lemonade kings all laugh. My name is Jay and this is smart business. You wouldn't get it.
I have never worked for the federal government. Years ago I did some contract work for some local (a most county-level) orgs. Nothing of importance.
No. As a sysadmin, I cannot stress enough that, government or not, you should not ever, ever, ever use your work computer/email/etc for personal stuff.

Generally, no one is gonna care. But if your employer ever wants to fire you will be handing them free reasons.
“This is just email.”

No, it’s FOIA-ble communication. For government entities, your entire mailbox is subject to legal requests for information.

Lawyers can do the same thing with your work email. If you’re part of a lawsuit someone can/will search your entire mailbox.

Folks used to get shamed for putting their inside voices out there like this.
I'm sorry: "if I wish to see a virgin on-screen"?
I’m not sure that’s valid. There are plenty of reasons to put limits an OoO message. A work account may not be the place for it, especially if you are a federal employee.

Work accounts are not personal accounts and employers are not friends. Keep them as separate as church and state should be.
Yes, if you have an approval process in place and have approvals, you are expected to implement requests, regardless of whether they are a good idea.

I would probably quit rather than do this, but there are plenty of people who would push it out.
No one is enforcing the law, and it only takes one corrupt/malleable person to deploy this change.

If you have change control processes and approval, it would not be “wrong” from an operational standpoint. That’s not hard to get when you have sycophants rubber stamping everything.
I literally said “that’s not to defend this nonsense,” why do you feel like we need to argue about it?
