Hello, new Bluesky faces and followers!

If you did not know me from elsewhere, I'm Mike! This feed will not be coherent, as I'll be jumping between topics: movies, television, video games, tokusatsu, anime/manga/webtoons, and comics. Apologies in advance.

The blog should be up... eventually.
I used to typeset and edit fansubs—shout out to Anime-Kraze and TV-Nihon back in the day—and this was the shit I loved the most.

Wake Up Dead Man is probably the best of the three Knives Out movies. It plays with real emotion and humor better than Glass Onion, and it helps to have a lead that's not Blanc, like the first film.

Glenn Close is a stand out and Josh O' Connor continues to impress. I wish him a long career.

The TV contraction (The CW and Syfy in particular) did a number on my weird Canadian show vibes. Shout out to some smaller shows during this time:

Jake 2.0
The Crow: Stairway to Heaven
Mutant X
Dark Matter
Sanctuary
The Collector
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

LoL. How is that a real headline? What are we doing?

I enjoy the planned ease of that last line:

"He has temporarily put an end to his challenge of creating fantasy through metaphors and he will assault heaven itself and dethrone our masters who reign there."
And yes before you ask I went to the source and checked, he literally refered to it as JRPG 3.0 on a slide

Last Samurai Standing is such a lovely show so far.

Okada is a great actor and action choreographer, it's full of tons of neat little guys and some of the biggest Japanese actors, and the opening battle looks like it might've taken place at frequent toku location Mt. Iwafune?

I call this the Flash Gordon Effect.

It influenced so much scifi pulp adventure, but you can't revive it because everything was done elsewhere.
i understand why when people go back and watch/play formative and influential works, they are underwhelmed because they've seen it copied so many times. idk how exactly but i am able to evade this by role-playing in my brain as someone who hasn't seen it yet. it works for me

As was accidentally released by Ubisoft itself back in August, there's a Far Cry series coming to FX from Rob McElhenney and Noah Hawley.

It's be an anthology series like Hawley's Fargo, which... is smart to be honest. Each season, new person gotta FAR CRY.

NCT Dream's latest track, Beat It Up, has been growing on me.

We need to go back to the days where stuff like this would drop in random action movies during fights.

I enjoy how this article notes that:

- Folks can't afford the upgrade, and the current devices work fine
- Businesses are holding onto devices even longer, which is the actual problem.

And yet... the headline.

Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

I have YouTube Premium solely so I can listen to video essays on my earbuds with phone screen off in my pocket.

I appreciate the Kevin Perjurers of the world and their efforts, but I'm listening to half your video while walking.
This is why I think spending time on slick production for a video podcast is a giant waste. The main benefit to a video podcast is it lives on YouTube and a decent number of people like to ingest things that way. They push play and tab away from it immediately. I could be nude, no one would know.
*banging a metal pot with a wooden spoon very loudly*

people want to LISTEN to podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!

*hitting you on the forehead with the spoon*

STOP PIVOTING TO VIDEO

Well now we know what's next for #SuperSentai.

It's not Universe Heroes, it's Project R.E.D.: Records of Extraordinary Dimensions. Like Sentai, the focus is on Red heroes, as the name suggests.

Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity is indeed the first project.

This Way Madness Lies is a great game and barely anybody bought it. It should be played by more people. If everybody here on @bsky.app banded together and bought a Steam copy and played it, well, that'd be a miracle and I would be forever grateful.

I was trying to figure out how they were adapting Gundam for live action.

Assuming this rumor is correct, they'd be adapting 08th MS Team, with Sweeney as Aina and Centineo as Shiro. I can wrap my head around that.
