At some point you realize that the prominent, powerful people you see on your screens are mostly morons who either got lucky or are saying things billionaires want to hear, and that nobody smart or competent is in charge, and we're all just collectively flailing, and it's a miracle anything works.
The co-founder of Kalshi says: " The long-term vision is to financialize everything and create a tradable asset out of any difference in opinion."

Everyone in Chicago needs to read this AND TAKE ACTION. Everyone else should read this and ask what's happening where you are with your public library systems.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has proposed disastrous cuts to our city's libraries while setting aside $5M for a ShotSpotter replacement. As library associate Sara Heymann told me, “Libraries embody everything we need to fight back against fascism.” My piece on what’s at stake and how to fight back:
You Can’t Fight Fascism While Defunding Libraries
“Libraries embody everything that we need right now to fight back against fascism," says Sara Heymann.

Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Problem is: Neither our work culture nor our education culture incentivizes deep learning. Instead, we're incentivized to economize--to learn only what's needed to finish the task or get the answer right on the test.

So, people use ChatGPT, even when they know they could learn more by other means.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Too few people are talking about the fact that for eight years (2011-2019), while Jeffrey Epstein was raping young girls and trafficking them to hundreds of other rapists from his home base in Palm Beach, Florida, the Florida district attorney was Pam Bondi. Connect the dots.

Of the NBA broadcasters, I've decided NBC has the best score graphics.
Prime has the smoothest team at the desk.
Don't think I've settled on who's calling the games the best yet.

Although I didn't exactly connect the dots exactly like this, I figured the airlines/businesses would end the shutdown because fewer/no flights would fuck up their money.
Someone suggested this was what happened yesterday and immediately people attacked them for maligning democrats. Whoever you support, can we PLEASE at least accept that they are controlled by their donors?
NEWS: Airlines whose profits were threatened by Trump’s flight reductions funneled huge cash to the Senate Democrats who voted to help the GOP end the shutdown without preventing huge cuts to Americans’ health care.
