I am confused.
CBC commissioned whiny nimby polls (edging close to anti-immigration) right before a municipal election?

CBC News commissioned polls that surveyed 1,000 residents in Edmonton and 1,000 residents in Calgary. They were surveyed through the Trend Research Online Panel from Oct. 1 to 8. Quotas were set for age, gender and city quadrant. Minimal weighting was applied to match Statistics Canada population data. A margin of error does not apply because they were non-probability online surveys. However, a comparable margin of error would be +/-3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

In her polling, Brown found some correlation between those concerned about growth, and which candidate they might be most likely to support.

"People who sort of identify as right-wing on the political spectrum, they're also more concerned about growth, and they're also more likely to be supporting mayoralty candidates that are a little more right on the spectrum," said Brown.

The battle's on for Calgary's conservative voters as truce between 2 parties fails to materialize
"In Calgary, they're gravitating toward candidates like [Sonya] Sharp and [Jeff] Davison. In Edmonton, they're gravitating toward a candidate like Cartmell."

..."lasting" snow is a bit different.
In both cities early snow usually melts off quickly.
It usually doesn't start to hang around until the beginning of November (and then Calgary gets big melts throughout the winter)

This is Calgary's earliest snow since 2021.
The last time that they got a really early September snow was 2019, and 2018 for us.

And I get that entertainment journalists have nothing better to do than talk to unemployed writers.
But TNG at least had some residual nostalgia around it for Picard.
Enterprise is still the series that basically killed the franchise. No one with money is bringing that back.

The alternative to old bungalows being torn down and replaced by a number of condos or townhomes that costs roughly the same is the old bungalow being torn down and replaced by a large house that costs 3x as much.
This is literally what happened before rezoning

I don't disagree that new Trek and SW go too far in the opposite direction.
But I'm also always surprised how outright dickish they are to the guy.

The only people who are against it are taxprep firms/software (who are basically assholes, at least about this), and apparently also the ctf (who are giant assholes about everything).
But canadian media is committed to giving the assholes a voice.
