Thrilled this is out, led by former PD Cameron Ogg (now with her own lab at @rhodescollege.bsky.social!). It was a driven by a desire to see, in real-time, how LC activity/NE release influences downstream targets in behaving animals. SO hard to do, but Cameron did it! www.cell.com/cell-reports...

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

When this guidance is published (given legal standing), as it almost certainly will be, as a trans man I will not be allowed to use non-unisex public toilets. Which is almost every public toilet.

Just want that to sink in, there.

Given the overwhelming data and evidence that expanding access and increasing equity produces improvements for all people, I think we should start treating “anti-DEI” campaigns as misinformation campaigns as much as campaigns to resegregate
Every time a see another post about “anti-DEI” I want to ask people if they are for homogeneity, inequity, and exclusion.

I know they are - I just want to hear them say it out loud instead of hiding behind “anti-DEI”.

The diversity supplement also frees up money on the parent grant to hire…a majoritarian postdoc.
After some time pedaling… MFer those supplements are not even actually awarded to the trainee. They go to the PI, which by the system is often white men, to increase their productivity.

The good faculty at least created a strong training plan to support someone for a part of their training.
As a both a PI that received a Diversity Supplement to support a student on my R01, and a PO that reviewed them, they were never about "handing out money at the end of the year based on race" and always about the training potential and commitment.

Absolutely staggering to consider the deadweight loss that AI has caused educators in terms of burdening them by making cheating easier, and how little our society's elites care
Across the country, a small but growing number of educators are experimenting with oral exams to circumvent the temptations presented by powerful artificial intelligence platforms such as ChatGPT.

Then, one day, the streetlights turned off. For good. And every was just so angry and confused.
