new video shows Kit Kat did not “dart underneath” the vehicle as waymo originally claimed. he was sitting under the car in front of the right wheel before it just ran him over. someone even approached the vehicle to try and get him to move seconds before it happened. missionlocal.org/2025/12/sf-w...

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos says the streamer has no "opposition" to releasing Warner Bros. movies in theaters, but hints that "windows will evolve to be much more consumer friendly."

I'm going to sound like a broken record by the way I keep mentioning how 95% of Somalis in the Twin Cities metro area are US citizens, but very few mainstream outlets are pointing this out.

This should be very basic stuff for any news organization.

I went to the Death Valley Dark Sky fest with my folks last week. My dad’s a Classic Dad so he went up to each booth at the visitor’s center, asked the scientists a million questions about their work, and came away struck by
1) how much science is done in our parks
2) how much of it is threatened
one thing I've become very convinced of is the need for the civil service to do waaayyyy more propaganda. like you should know about how NOAA makes the weather app on your phone work. you should know that Uncle Sam runs GPS. you should know how impressive the US census data collection effort is, etc

It's wild that the collapsible scooter was just starting to make headway as a first mile/last mile solution when this thing came out and it pivoted to being a children's toy.

20 years later, battery technology catches up and scooters are now everywhere while the Segway is basically retrofuturism.
Younger people who didn't witness it cannot fathom the hype around the Segway. Every news station agreed it would revolutionize the entire social fabric of the Earth. That all future humans would divide history between the savage days of the past, and the soon to be new era of zoom zoom scoot scoot.

Segway jokes aside, Dean Kamen invented one of the first insulin pumps, solar powered water filters, all terrain wheelchairs, advanced prosthetics, and founded a ton of education/engineering programs. He's objectively committed to doing tech for public good.

It's Spotify Wrapped Day.

I am once again in the top .1% of Chloe Moriondo listeners.

I find it funny that my top artist is a 20 something bedroom pop girlie and the others are 30/40 something indie punk bands but because I listen to Siouxsie Sioux and The Talking Heads a lot I'm "an old soul."

If Stranger Things was remade today and set the same number of years ago as S1 it would be in 2003 and instead of a resurgence of a Kate Bush song it would be Hoobastank, the kids would dress up for Halloween like Neo and Trinity. No I can’t prove this is actually correct I am not going to do math.
