Here in the US, we have so many mass shootings (400 this year) that we barely pay attention to them.
In Australia, shootings are rare. But antisemitic attacks have been on the rise – homes graffitied, synagogues burnt – as they have around the world.
We must not become numb.

100%! What's being proposed is a batshit solution to a problem that has a straightforward resolution. Now this simply kicks the can down the road & creates more opportunities to get it wrong.
I don't understand how any of this is easier than just raising the damn cap, which the commissioner gets to do at her discretion. If teams don't want to spend to the cap, current, or future, maybe they need to reevaluate being a team in this league.

Two gymnasts have accused USA Gymnastics, the U.S. Center for SafeSport and the owners of a prominent Iowa-based youth gymnastics facility of failing to prevent a former coach from sexually abusing girls, according to civil lawsuits.
Lawsuits allege USA Gymnastics, SafeSport failed to prevent sexual abuse by coach
The former coach at the center of the cases was arrested in August on federal child pornography charges.
