Writer/Executive Producer of GREMLINS: THE WILD BATCH (now on MAX!), plus many other TV shows, comics (most recently EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS #8), and articles for SPIN. Here for horror movie, comic book, & punk/power pop recs. He/him, 🩷💜💙
Changing channels: Jack White’s halftime show is pretty damn great, but could’ve been even cooler from like a Lindt’s Chocolate float.

What’s the only new pop culture that’s already massive enough to be added to the Thanksgiving Day Parade mere months after release?

K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Almost like it’s worth taking a risk on original animated movies.

Based on how Thanksgiving Parades work, I hope my kids enjoy KPop Demon Hunters reuniting to perform “Golden” for a cruise line float in 2050.

And now Lil Jon and Toys R Us. I cannot out Mad Lib this parade. I admit defeat.

My wife and I just danced to Busta Rhymes performing at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The passage of time markers get weird sometimes.
November 27, 2025 at 6:37 PM
I love that the Thanksgiving Day Parade is pop culture mad libs. Ciara plus Dora the Explorer. Hamilton plus Sesame Street. Motley Crue plus Minions. La Roux plus Labubu. Eddie Money plus the Jolly Green Giant. Shaggy and a giant gold turkey. More of these are true than you’d think!

The BBC are cowardly shitheads who identify as journalists.
the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become ridiculous like Quentin Tarantino.

One thing I’m grateful for this year: the return of De La Soul. I love how they handle Dave’s verse, too. They actually make me proud of Long Island. stereogum.com/2480896/watc...
De La Soul Give Heartfelt, Grown-Man 'Kimmel' Performance: Watch
It’s hard to see De La Soul perform without one of their members. The group’s camaraderie, their joyous “three is the magic number” dynamic, was always key to their appeal. If it’s hard to watch, imag...

Y’think Chris Tucker pitched Trump his take for Rush Hour 4 on Epstein’s plane?

Fortunate to see the Oi! punk veterans Cock Sparrer at their final L.A. show ever. May we all be as cool as them at any age. Plus, one of my all-time faves Dillinger Four opened for them, making this their first L.A. show since I don’t know when.

The Replacements are my fave band, so I am grateful for any opportunity to ramble about them. In the past, I only got that chance by cornering a friend at last call. Thanks to the good folks Rhino and their new Let It Be box set, now I get to do it for SPIN: www.spin.com/2025/11/let-...
Let It Be Replaced (Again)
I bought my first copy of Let It Be when I was 15 and it unlocked my lifelong love of the Replacements. Soon I was hunting down albums, bootlegs, zines, T-shirt

Honor Transgender Day of Rememberance by making life better for the Trans folks who are still with us.

Dear Media, what’s the worst that’s gonna happen? The turd says “Quiet Piggy” to all of you? Speak the fuck up for your fellow journalists.

Materialists is a movie for people who find Whit Stillman a little too blue collar.

Rewatching Wicked Part 1 and remembering that I want at least one hour of part 2 to focus on the animal band from the Ozdust Ballroom. Their touring life, setlists, merch table, musical influences, everything.

Not sure if it’s a comedy. Not sure if I’m even having fun watching it. But damn if “She’s in the sewers” wasn’t the funniest line delivery I’ve heard in awhile. Well done, Friendship.

I want to believe the Epstein Files will be the end of MAGA, but then I remember the Catholic Church is still going strong after its own Epstein Files.

Bacurau is one of those movies I periodically think back to and smile about. Not that it’s a feel-good, perfect movie, but that it’s so unique and unexpected… it’s what you want all moviegoing about experiences to feel like.
""BACURAU exists in this hazy space of too much heat & too little water, begetting visions that seem just outside the realm of the expected: flying saucer drones and motorcycle riders bedecked in psychedelic neon, all party to conspiracy."
Bacurau (2019)
Though 'Bacurau' is inspired by classic Westerns, the ideas it expresses are more than just a reaction to the set Western tropes, championing collective action as an alternative to the individualism…

Really strong new music out today from Home Front (hardcore vocals meets New Wave) and Ben Quad (Midwest emo). Give them a listen.

New music from Robyn AND The Ark in the same week? My Swedish pop loving heart is overflowing!
