Lunch is on the house:

Being in the heart of downtown DC, we love that so many of our Federal employees stop by during lunch for a Donburi at China Chilcano or a Fútbol Club at Jaleo. And just because the government is shut down doesn't mean you have to miss out on your favorite lunch spot- because this time, its on us!
Join us for lunch from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM at any of our participating restaurants and enjoy a free lunch item when you present your government ID-you heard that right! Dine in with us Monday through Friday and choose your favorite: a sandwich at Jaleo, a donburi at China Chilcano, a wrap or pita at Zaytinya, or a torta at Oyamel.
We've always believed in serving our community with open arms and good food-no shutdown can stop that.

Book 19 of 2025: After a long phase of sci-fi and fantasy, I’m ready to return to the “real world” with this novel, which has been on my to-read list for awhile and comes heavily recommended by everyone I know who has read it.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

By having the ghost runner in the regular season but not the postseason when the games matter most, baseball is admitting that the rule makes the product less good.

Of course not. The tension of a 9-inning baseball game in October is higher than a 9-inning game in July too. But I enjoy extra inning games because I like baseball. So more of it is good. I’ve been to a 17-inning game in person not even featuring the Mets and I stayed the whole time. It ruled.

Me too. I'll never forget that game because it was a nationally broadcast game so it was one of the only games I was able to watch in my college dorm room that season. I watched the whole thing.
