I flew today. I don't have "RealID" so I was punished by having to take off my shoes and sit on the floor in front of everyone to put them back on. Security theater.

Also TSA stole the cannabis vape thing I bought because I have to stay in a hotel one night.

Bastards.

The point of the Reagan/Thatcher cuts was to "defund government" so democracy could no longer constrain the rich & their corporations.

Privatization was part of the strategy to bankrupt democracy and allow the rich to profit.
Tax the rich, hire enough doctors & staff.

A £200-per-month "mansion tax" is not "making the rich pay their fair share."

Pre-Thatcher top income tax rates: earned income 83%. 98% investment income by a surcharge. The top rate was reduced to 60% in 1979 and is now 45% (48% Scotland.)
Katie Bramall, chair of BMA GeneralPractice, explains that simply creating another way for people to book GP appointments doesnt increase the number of appointments available, and the sheer volume of people now booking online is taking GPs away from face to face appointments to triage those bookings

Fossil fuels must be phased out to avoid catastrophe. That is a scientific fact. Anything else is a propaganda smokescreen put up by oil companies.

AND green energy COSTS LESS. Ongoing green energy is almost FREE after the cost of building & installing. Economies are dramatically boosted by that.

I wish most USians knew these basic facts. It would help a lot.
In the early 80s taxes on the wealthy and their corporations were cut dramatically, transforming society. Income and wealth started rising to the top. This led to the vast inequality we experience today.

Also, corporations were "deregulated" - meaning they could do what they wanted. Pollution, /1

I post on UK issues because I spent much time & effort trying to warn people about the rightward shift of US "conservatives" and what it would lead to.

I moved here and see the same forces now working to capture the UK govt and impose what has been imposed on the US. I give a shit so I post & warn.

W went to war in Iraq for oil. Lied it was about WMDs. He got away with it. To this day MSM and pols haven't told the masses it was about oil. Instead of a well-known fact-- it's a secret they protect.

DJT may go to war in Venezuela for oil. Lie it's about drugs/gangs. And get away with it.

Someone I know who was recruited by the CIA out of school, but decided it was not for them, stayed in touch with their mentor. After Trump announced he was running, the mentor told this person that Trump was "a witting Russian asset." Period. Not unknowing, a "witting" asset. Which explains so much.

It looks like Mamdani had the largest turnout since 1969. He brought out people who otherwise don't vote.

Prediction: I expect there will be a full-on effort to sabotage him. Serious money will go into making an example of him. /1

The tariff case will be informative since it is such a slam dunk on the merits. If SCOTUS's ruling is anything other than a "go to hell" to Trump, we will know that they are corrupt beyond redemption.
And any such protection has to anticipate the response of the Roberts Court. If we depend on litigation to enforce, and the Court is going to make it impossible to get relief by fractionating cases or sending litigants to other courts, even statutory limits on imp/rescission may not be enough.

The wording of the question directs thinking away from the real issues.

How about: Who controls the House, Senate and White House? Should Dems fight for healthcare? Should Dems help fund authoritarianism?
New NBC News poll: Who do voters say is more to blame for the government shutdown?

• 52% blame Trump/Republicans
• 42% blame Democrats

Corporations are not "powerful." They are only government-enabled contracts.

What IS powerful is politicians allowing corporate executives to steal money meant to operate the corporation - and use it to fund politicians, parties & influence operations to enrich the executives.

Oil companies learned how to convince people to kill the entire planet while paying the companies for the privilege.

Ed Zitron has two main points to make: computers and programs don’t work as well as they used to, and this is because capitalistic forces have warped them into being tools for the purpose of making more money for shareholders rather than for their intended, original purposes.

Oooh controversial
