This goes along with a theory of mine that the system of massive, privately-held corporations that the tech barons want is ultimately deflationary.
My offline time lately prevents me from unpacking this fully but there’s a bipartisan strain of anti-PMC-ism threading through a ton of politics right now that’s leading to total derangement about what an economic apocalypse for white collar workers actually means for everybody else

If ROS had been about our heroes uncovering and ultimately failing to stop a plot to resurrect Palpatine this storyline could have worked.
this of course leads to the single worst piece of dialogue in star wars - and I include the sand speech from AotC here - "somehow, palpatine returned"

Yeah I think the biggest problem is that it is good at all of this stuff but that's not a trillion dollar year industry. It does seem like we're going to go through a similar thing to the com bubble where on the other end of this a bunch of small and a few of the biggest companies will emerge

one thing i've increasingly come to believe is that the USA does not really have any sort of "conservative" movement or culture. it's all bitter reaction to the liberal culture of the country writ large. *they would not know what to believe* if liberals didn't have their own beliefs to react against
The decline of right wing cultural production is just due to the fact that they don’t like culture, they like the signifiers of culture, ie “classic sculpture means white people are better.” They don’t like art at all except for this purpose. They don’t even like the nerd stuff they whine about
