Currently working on Witched Winds - a metamorphing fantasy TTRPG

I realise I never mentioned what ttrpg I'm currently working on: It's a fantasy world where magic regularly seeps out of remnants left behind by a past war, with environments and creatures being drastically changed wherever the wind carries the arcane energies. Working title "Witching Winds".

I started playtesting Witching Winds recently, barely finishing a first draft the week before, so I had little time to think about a starting incident or adventure. I winged it fine so far after determining group motivations, but making characters already has me revising that whole chapter.

Over the years I have had zero interactions with Jay, because she militantly blocked me on every service (less than an hour after creating my bsky acct) - because I am associated with one of her chosen enemies. This internal blacklist applied to everyone in her circle.

IF YOU BUILD OVER A PILE OF CORPSES, SOONER OR LATER, YOU'LL BE GRABBED BY THE ANKLE

I feel vindication in a way that is hard to grasp. To FINALLY wake up to this. A few of you reached out to me, and I to a few of you, over the last year. So now it's the best time to talk about this.

Buckle up.

We have been warning you all about designfluencers whose influence chokes us all by taking all oxygen, for their overwhelming presence is built atop of mountains of corpses.

As screenwriter of the Labubu movie I want to clear up some misconceptions. Yes, technically they do eat human flesh, but only necrotic tissue around wounds. Doctors use them to clean up injuries and promote positive health outcomes. Labubus are humanity’s allies, except for evil Labubus of course

Continuing my journey of watching all the Child's play films, and the third one starts out strong but is maybe weaker than the second overall. At least the callous toy company CEO gets offed.
Military school is an interesting backdrop change tbh, but a lot of kills are forgetable.

iEHRC is looking for people who can become iCommissioners. People who can represent all protected characteristics & especially those of groups who are currently most marginalized & excluded

iCommissioners must fully support the human rights of all.

Please DM if you can help.

By the way, the shallowness and prickish demeanor ascribed to proclaimers of "System Doesn't Matter" is entirely their fault. Many of those people left social media by their own merit of being insufferable, and to talk about being vapid, an indie TTRPG store literally sells stickers with the slogan
Putting aside the specific arguments re: "System Doesn't Matter" I disagree with Rob's thread entirely. Instead of people being charitable to folks being inflammatory, deliberately or thoughtlessly, more people need to think about what they say. Don't start a fire if you don't want the smoke!
It's early and this is a truly atrocious cup of coffee, so it seems like a good time to pick a fight with the world.

"System doesn't matter" is a valid, reasonable, and *critically important* argument which has been rendered ragebait and a punchline by pedantry.

I can't trust politicians who are anti-trans. Not because I'm "only searching for perfection" which is what centrists will be accusing me of for the rest of my life, it's because if you're not pro-trans you'll be garbage on lots of other issues too. Being anti-trans NEVER exists in a vacuum.

The EHRC is an anti-rights group.

An Independent EHRC is one way we can fight back.

I regard the existing EHRC as not independent and consequently not legitimate. So I am looking to recruit members of an independent EHRC who can fulfill its functions with genuine integrity and…

Switching "System Doesn't Matter" to "I Don't Care About Systems" is way more accurate, and a better indicator of a designer's quality output, buy y'all are just too coward to say it.

I get the distinct feeling that there are many people that simply equate "doesn't matter" with sleek, light, naturally flowing design and "does matter" with heavy, clunky, bloated unusable nonsense. If we interpret words by what they actually mean then none of that logically tracks.

Not only is "system doesn't matter" literally an absolute statement, like just in how it's written it's not presenting any ambiguity or leeway, but I'm gonna be honest that I think a lot of the stupidest elfgame "discourse" is people throwing absolutist statements out there as ragebait on purpose
This kind of sucks, because if we could treat "system doesn't matter" like a normal sentence, then we would understand that it's not an absolute statement, but an assertion that the amount system matters is lower than some critical threshold.

And that is a really important and fruitful assertion.

I learned the “right skills” as a GM by, in very large part, how they were inculcated in me by systems. I learned much faster from well-designed systems than from muddling through frustrations with weak ones. We have such technology as shouldn’t require every GM to independently reinvent the wheel.
I am closer to "System Doesn't Matter" than not. I am constantly wrestling with the question of whether a system is genuinely contributing, or if it's just providing tools to emulate something a GM or player with the right skills would just do anyway.

Ultimately so much of this debate is thoughtless sloganeering, which has even forgotten the fact this was basically spawned from a dumb slapfight between white men on an old ass forum two decades ago.

The reality *I* have to deal with now is that, largely, design is simultaneously the least...

With all due respect "system doesn't matter" is a genuinely destructive statement that is outright insulting to anyone who has spent any time doing any sort of game design in ttrpgs.

The *only* saving grace of the statement is the context that it was originally pushback against some shitlords.
