The problem of "rules light is better design" is the result of a D&D-instigated failure of the imagination: people cannot imagine other spheres of the human experiences that aren't violence being mechanized and systematically developed to be fun. I had a 3 hour argument with a friend years ago...

I'm deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rob Weiland. He was a supporter or Tabletop Bookshelf, and everything I've been trying to do. He helped me find the shop's first employee. Once long ago, I even got to be a player it has table. My heart goes out to those closest to him.

One thing I think gets confusing in discussions of RPG mechanics is the way people sometimes use "the mechanics get out of the way" to mean "I can ignore the mechanics"/"we didn't need to roll dice all session"

learning a lot about tiktok stuff, and kinda surprised about how much stitches underperform VS other videos (nothing to do with my face, since the only video with my face that isnt a stitch got at least over 100 views). Heard that for smaller creators, the stitch drives traffic mostly to the og post

I’m not good at words when good people close to me die.

Rob Wieland was an amazing person. When you’re an artist and people consistently believe in you for decades, that’s the only way you can really keep going. Without guys like Rob in the world, art doesn’t happen.
