Maybe, but so far none of the colleges that Trump has singled out for retribution have earned themselves anything for capitulating (beyond maybe an excuse to do what they already secretly wanted to do anyway) so it's not like they stand to gain much by kissing the ring

It's also why console exclusives are way more annoying now than they used to be. Like okay it makes sense I can't play MGS2 on an N64, but there is zero reason to not make a Bloodborne PC port, we know it works because people have made it work, all your shit now is just various PCs crammed in a box

So I would wager the deal here is that people have conflated "console exclusives" with "really good games," as platforms were once much more encouraged to associate those things (if you wanna play Metal Gear Solid, you gotta buy a Playstation) even though that's no longer really true anymore

The thing about console exclusives is that people are getting the cause and effect mixed up. Console exclusives being a bigger thing back before inter-platform builds were really as possible, they were used by consoles as a selling point, and thus there was incentive to make a killer library

The OP says "democracy and wealth hoarding cannot coexist" and he's 10000% correct, and this is one of the big reasons why, people allowed to walk around with billions of dollars are functionally equivalent to if we just let people stockpile nuclear weapons on their own, with similar outcomes

I don't know how much hope I have in general these days either, but I genuinely do not believe that Americans simply become propagandized without the propaganda, Fox News turning grandpa's brain to mush is as deliberate an act as someone with a personal nuke deciding to drop it on someone's house

Sure, but the media that does this stuff is a direct product of the ultra-wealthy utilizing their outsized power and influence to do so, which all sort of flows back to the OP's initial point that this is the sort of thing that needs to have its back broken if we're ever gonna see meaningful change
