to keep functioning a society must discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities
After the FBI denied "children were zip-tied or hit with rubber bullets" in a raid in Wilder, Idaho, the FBI said no "young" children were.

The updated statement came after KIVI-TV sent FBI photo reportedly showing 14-year-old U.S. citizen in zip ties.

Mayor Frey created the role of Commissioner of Community Safety (the highest paid city employee!) so that stories like this never mention the mayor is in charge.

Mayor Frey currently attacking the problem of too much accountability from three angles:

1. Asking the charter commission put forward a ballot measure stripping council of the power to confirm his appointments to lead key city departments.

This is driving me crazy. The New York Times calling this madness an “anti-drug operation” is one of the worst forms of propaganda: accepting stated motivations of powerful people as the truth.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

Let’s not let AIPAC buy our senate seat, ok?
The second email on Sept. 15, also sent by AIPAC, encourages donations to Angie Craig in MN, Haley Stevens in MI and Laura Fine in IL-09

Links to all three of these candidates lead to the same "Pro-Israel Network" donation page using Democracy Engine as the vendor

This is what public safety looks like under Jacob Frey.

It’s time we had a mayor who will keep us safe.

Davis Moturi was shot almost a year ago.

He’s still looking for answers as to why his calls for help were ignored.

This is the best political news I’ve seen in a very long time — so please pass it on👇

Each state can limit Citizens United in their own state & they don’t have to wait for other states to do it.

Initial estimate for No Kings Twin Cities at 100,000! So many Minnesotans SHOWED UP to protect our communities, our country and our democracy that the 1+ mile march route looped back and found thousands hadn’t even left the starting point! 👏❌👑

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

The huge size of the Minneapolis #NoKings march is hard to depict because it's circling 20 blocks of the central downtown core. This is the front when the back was still over at US Bank stadium and hadn't started moving yet.
